Connection Diagram
Layout
The OSD board features several connection points and labels. Key labels include: '+5V', 'GND', 'Video in', 'nc' (not connected), '6 Pin' connector, 'Status LED', '5V', 'Vin' (Video Input), 'CC', 'Vout' (Video Output), 'RX' (Receiver Data Input), and 'TX' (Transmitter Data Output). The diagram also specifies pin definitions: GND is Reference Signal Ground, 5V is from the FC, Vin+Vout handle video in and out, nc is not connected, and the 6-pin connection is JST-SH-1mm.
Dimension (in mm)
The physical dimensions of the FETtec OSD Board are indicated as 19mm in width and 13mm in height.
Basic Setup
6 Pin connection (cable included)
This board can be connected via a straight 6-pin adapter to any FETtec FC or KISS FC serial port. The OSD functionality requires a connected camera.
FETtec OSD Board to FETtec KISS FC connection:
The 6-pin JST-SH-1mm cable connects the following pins from the OSD Board to the FC:
- RX 1
- TX 1
- RGB LED
- BAT+
- VTX 5V
- GND
VTX connection
For VTX connection, the OSD board provides pins for 5V, Vin, GND, and Video out. This connection can be used as an alternative to connecting the VTX directly to the FC. It's noted that Smart audio must always be connected to the FC.
Camera connection
For camera connection, the OSD board has pins for 5V, GND, and Cam Video out.
OSD Firmware
It is recommended to update the FETtec OSD Board before its first flight.
To update the firmware, connect the FETtec OSD Board to the FETtec Configurator software and flash the latest firmware via FC passthrough. The configurator interface shows the board's firmware version (e.g., FW. ver.: 0.1-0.01) and serial number (SN). Users connect via COM ports and can flash firmware through FC passthrough.
Settings
All settings are configured directly within the OSD menu.
To access the OSD menu at startup, perform the following stick movements:
- Set Throttle to 50%.
- Move the Yaw stick left.
- Move the Pitch stick up.
Mode 1 Stick Movements: A diagram shows two stick positions: one centered and one with the stick moved to the bottom-left quadrant.
Mode 2 Stick Movements: A diagram shows two stick positions: one centered and one with the stick moved to the bottom-right quadrant.
OSD Menu and Settings
The OSD menu, accessible via specific stick movements, includes options such as VTX/CAM, LED, GPS, TUNING, BATTERY, OSD, INFO, SAVE, and EXIT. The OSD settings menu allows configuration of GENERAL, FUNCTIONS, ITEMS, LAYOUT, and OSD SYNC, along with options for DEFAULT and RESET. The OSD displays flight data like current (0.0A), voltage (3.88V, 11.65V), and status (e.g., DISARMED).
Issues in the picture
Troubleshooting tips for visual anomalies:
- Adjust OSD SYNC settings to AUTO SYNC.
- For unsharp lines, modify LEFT/WITH values, avoiding values above 400.
- Perform a PAL/NTSC layout reset if necessary.
Move elements in the OSD menu
To reposition elements within the OSD:
- Navigate to LAYOUT → SET POSITIONS in the SETTINGS menu.
- Elements become movable on a grid.
- Use the sticks to skip between elements and select them for repositioning.
- To exit the 'move menu', hold the Yaw stick left for a few seconds.
