Icom ID-50E VHF/UHF Dual Band Digital Transceiver
Your Perfect Travelling Companion!
The Icom ID-50E is a compact VHF/UHF dual band transceiver featuring both D-STAR (Digital Smart Technologies for Amateur Radio) and FM dual modes. It enables global communication by connecting to the Digital network, allowing you to contact friends in different cities or regions worldwide.
Smart functions such as Band Scope and Picture Sharing enhance the QSO experience, providing worldwide communications through the D-STAR network.
Easy D-STAR Settings for Beginners
The DR function simplifies communications using D-STAR repeaters. By selecting the 'FROM' (access repeater) and 'TO' (destination), you can make QSO calls including Local Area, Gateway, and Simplex calls. Combined with the GPS function, you can select available local repeaters based on your location. The DR function also supports reflector linking controls.
Share Picture Function* to Expand the Fun of QSOs
You can share pictures with other users in DV mode, enjoying the sharing of images along with voice messages.
* The Share picture function requires the optional picture utility software ST-ID50A (available on Google Play™) or ST-ID50W (downloadable from the Icom website) and a user-supplied USB Type-C to Type-C cable.
Build Your Own Internet Gateway
Even in areas without D-STAR repeaters, you can build your own internet gateway using Terminal mode and Access Point mode to access the D-STAR network virtually anywhere. Setting up an Access Point is straightforward: connect your ID-50E to a PC or an Android™ device connected to the internet, enabling other D-STAR radio users to communicate through the D-STAR network over the air.
* The RS-MS3W optional software (downloadable from the Icom website) and a user-supplied USB Type-C/USB Type-C cable are required for Access Point mode. The RS-MS3A optional application software (downloadable on Google Play™) and a user-supplied USB Type-C/USB Type-C cable are required for Terminal mode. Terminal and Access Point modes are compatible with the Icom RSRP3 Gateway Software. If your D-STAR repeater is running G1 or G2 software, contact the repeater administrator to upgrade the software.
Note: An Internet connection with an IPv4 Global IP address is required. If using a cellular system, an IPv4 Global IP address assigned to your Android™ device is necessary.
Smart Functions and Operations
Easily Find Active Channels by Sight
The Band Scope with Waterfall display allows you to view band conditions in detail, helping you find active channels or open frequencies. The Waterfall display indicates the presence or absence of signals and their signal levels. The Band Scope mode can be used in Center, Fixed, and Fixed scroll modes, enabling efficient and smart operations.
Enjoy D-STAR Text Message Communication
By installing the RS-MS1A App on your Android™ device, you can easily send text messages using your device's keyboard. The RS-MS1A can also remotely control transceiver operations and set various functions from your Android™ device.
Reliable To Use in Rainy or Humid Environments
The ID-50E features superior IPX7* waterproofing and pro-grade construction, making it perfect for outdoor use, even in harsh environments.
* Submersible in water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes.
Double QSO Opportunities with Dualwatch
The Dualwatch function* enables simultaneous monitoring of VHF/VHF, VHF/UHF, and UHF/UHF bands. You can quickly respond to calls from either the Main or Sub bands.
* DV/DV mode cannot be listened to at the same time.
Various Data Saving on a MicroSD Card
A microSD card (up to 32 GB) can store QSO recordings, TX voice memory, pictures, QSOs, and GPS log data. Firmware upgrades, Repeater lists, and other personal settings can also be saved and uploaded to the ID-50E radio.
Functions and Smart Features
Network
The ID-50E facilitates various communication modes via the internet, including Gateway Call, Local Area Call, and Simplex Call. It also supports Terminal Mode and Access Point Mode for extended connectivity.
VHF Airband and FM Broadcast Receiver
You can listen to FM broadcasts and the VHF Airband, enjoying reception from a variety of channels.
Find Nearby Repeaters at a New Location
With the built-in GPS, your location and current Grid Square information can be shared with other stations. You can also check the distance to other stations. Various GPS functions are available, such as Position Auto Reply, Near Repeater Search, and GPS log functions.
Charging with a USB Type-C™ Connector
The ID-50E is equipped with a USB Type-C port, a widely used industry standard. This multi-function port supports charging, PC programming, reading/writing data to the microSD card, Terminal/Access Point mode, and CI-V control. Note: USB PD is not supported. Use a third-party USB cable for charging.
Same Optional Accessories can be shared with the ID-52/51/31
Some accessories from the ID-52/ID-51/ID-31 series transceivers are compatible with the ID-50E. Additionally, the large capacity battery pack, BP-307 from the IC-705, is also compatible, allowing for accessory sharing if you own these models.
QSO Logs in CSV Data Format
Frequencies, modes, and GPS logs can be saved in CSV data format, allowing for easy downloading and management of various QSO information.
High Visible LCD with Backlight Function
The ID-50E features a large full dot LCD that displays graphical information with easy-to-read characters and icons. The LCD backlight is beneficial for use in dark environments.
750 mW Loud Audio Output Power
The built-in 750 mW powerful audio output and internal speaker provide louder and clearer audio.
Other Features
- Easy-to-see Single Band Mode with large and bold characters.
- DV fast data mode uses data in place of voice frames.
- Voice Recorder function.
