1. Introduction
This document provides a guideline on operating and configuring Castles UPT1000F. The scope of this document includes setting up the UPT1000F, basic operation, application life cycle, and some advanced features.
2. Hardware Setup
2.1. Parts of the UPT1000F
Front View:
The front of the UPT1000F features:
- A 3.5" Touch Screen displaying "Welcome".
- A Contactless Reader.
- An ICC Reader with LED indicator.
- An MSR (Magnetic Stripe Reader).
- An MSR LED Indicator.
Rear View:
The rear of the UPT1000F includes the following ports and connectors:
- Power port.
- COM (RJ45) port.
- USB (Type B) port.
- Ethernet port.
- SAM (Secure Access Module) slot.
- SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) slot.
- BT Antenna connector.
- GSM Antenna connector.
3. Basic Operation
3.1. Program Manager
The UPT1000F is a terminal without a keypad. Input and control can be achieved in two ways:
- Connecting a USB keyboard to the USB2 port using a USB adapter.
- Connecting to a PC via console. Follow the steps below to connect the PC and UPT1000F for control.
Steps for PC Console Connection:
- Power on the UPT1000F and connect COM Port 1 to the PC.
- Run a console application program such as “TeraTerm” or “PuTTY” on the PC.
- Select "Serial port" and set the COM port. The baud rate should be set to "115200".

If the "Program Manager" screen does not appear on "Tera Term" or PuTTY", press any key on the keyboard to refresh the screen.

When powered on in normal status, the UPT1000F will enter the Program Manager if no default application is selected. All user applications are listed in the Program Manager. Users can select an application to run, view application information, delete an application, or set an application as the default to run on startup. Users can also enter the System Menu to configure UPT1000F settings.
Program Manager Options:
- Press [0] to enter the System Menu.
- Press [1] to toggle the default application selection.
- Press [2] to delete an application.
- Press [3] to view application information.
- Press [OK] to run the selected application.
- Use [↑] or [↓] to select an application.
3.2. System Menu
The System Menu allows for various configurations and operations. It is divided into pages.
System Menu - Page 1:
- 1. Download AP: Download user application or kernel modules firmware.
- 2. System Info: View kernel module firmware information.
- 3. Memory Status: View terminal flash memory and RAM information.
- 4. Sys Settings: View or change terminal system settings.
- 5. Test Utility: Diagnose terminal hardware components.
- 6. Factory Reset: Perform factory reset; all user applications, fonts, and data will be deleted.
- 7. Power Off: Power off the terminal.
- 8. FK PWD Change: Change the function key access password.
- 9. Share obj Mng: View share objects in the terminal.

System Menu - Page 2:
- 1. Embedded TMS: Enter TMS (Terminal Management System) setting menu.
- 2. Font Mng: View Font Management.
- 3. Debug Tools: Get core dump or debug log.
- 4. ULD KEY HASH: View ULD user key hash value.
- 5. HW Detect: Detect hardware information.
- 6. Bluetooth Setup: Configure Bluetooth settings.
- 7. Plug-in Mng: View Plug-in Management.
- 8. Key Injection: View Key Injection.
- 9. TP Calibration: Calibrate the Touch Panel.
- 0: Download

System Menu - Page 3:
- 1. Key Bridge: Support key injection for specific software.
- 2. PWD Change: Change the password for Function key, PMEnter key, and Factory key.

4.1. Serial Cable PIN Assignment
The UPT1000F uses a serial cable for communication. The pinout for the serial port is as follows:
