Important Safety Instructions

Read all safety and product information carefully before using the MPS-Protective Pet Shirt on your pet. Failure to follow these instructions may cause injury. MPS® products are not toys or fashion items. Adult supervision is required during the use of this product. Improper use may lead to hotspots, chafing, skin irritation, inflammation, or infection. In case of emergency or doubt, consult your veterinarian immediately.

1. Usage: The MPS-Protective Pet Shirt® should only be used on the advice/consultation of your veterinarian and only after a medical procedure, for medical conditions, and skin problems. Do not use the shirt if it is damaged or if it contains loose parts.
2. Supervision: Your pet must always be under the supervision of a responsible adult while wearing the MPS-Protective Pet Shirt®. Regular checks for cleanliness, friction, constriction, chafing, tripping hazard, or choking hazard are mandatory.
3. Adjustment period: Allow your pet to get used to the shirt before a surgery and have your veterinarian put the shirt on your pet during anesthesia. If in doubt, always consult your veterinarian for advice. If your pet tends to chew or gnaw on materials, this product is not recommended. Therefore, always keep your pet under supervision.
4. Unusual behavior: In case of unusual behavior from your pet, which may include but is not limited to walking backward, sneezing, coughing, or incontinence, remove the MPS-Protective Pet Shirt® immediately and consult your veterinarian.
5. Visible issues: Check for proper fit and any skin irritation daily. Report skin irritation or any other problems to your veterinarian immediately for proper treatment and care.
6. Fit: Ensure the right fit to avoid safety risks. A shirt that is too large can cause tripping or choking hazards; a shirt that is too small can cause friction or skin irritation. Always measure your pet as described in the manual, which is available through the link at the bottom of the page. The shirt is designed to have a snug fit. It is made of lightweight, breathable, and stretchable material. It may be necessary to stretch the shirt to put it on; this is normal as it is a four-way stretch fabric. Make sure there is always room for 1 to 2 fingers around the legs, chest, neck, and tail. Check at least once a day for any irritation around the legs, chest, neck, and tail, and to ensure that the shirt is in place.
7. Wear time: Never use the shirt for more than eight (8) consecutive hours unless prescribed by your veterinarian. Check the problem area or surgical zone every day. Remove the shirt every few days, wash it, and let it air dry. For constant protection, we recommend using a second MPS-Protective Pet Shirt®.
