Quickstart | Basic Usage

1 - Grinder Placement

Find a flat, dry counter space with access to a power outlet. The EG-1 is usable in 90v - 240v regions without a separate transformer. It uses a C13 style cable (like a computer cable), and a US-style 3 prong cable is included.

2 - Remove from box

Using both hands, carefully pull the EG-1 straight out of the packaging. Use caution - it is heavy.

3 - Attach the Bean Dish

This attaches as shown, aligning stainless dowel pins and using the magnet to hold them together.

4 - Mount the Shaker Wood Platen

The PF Cover is removed. Start with the wood platen to accommodate the Blind Shaker. A video regarding usage of the rails and Blind Shaker is available on the Weber Workshops YouTube Channel.

5 - Plug in unit

Use the included power cord. An adapter or another C13 style cable may be needed for your country, but a transformer is not required for 90v-240v AC supply.

6 - Power on mains

The switch is on the back of the unit next to the cord plug. The display should read "0".

7 - Adjust the RPM level

Turn the black knob counterclockwise to reduce to the 500-700RPM range (a good starting point). The RPMs display briefly for pre-setting without running the grinder.

8 - Purge button

Pushing the button while the grinder is stopped momentarily reverse-spins the burrs before briefly spinning them at MAX. This can dislodge foreign objects or un-roasted beans. Pushing while grinding gives a temporary MAX burst.

9 - Using the On/Off Button

When spinning, the button illuminates and remains depressed. Do not leave the grinder ON/Spinning for excessive periods. The mains power only needs to be shut down to turn off the LEDs. The EG-1 enters a sleep mode in 60 seconds, dimming the LEDs. Pressing the On/Off button awakens it instantaneously.

10 - Adjust the Grind

Test grind a small amount of coffee to verify the initial setting. Adjustments are made by lifting the locking ring and turning. Larger numbers mean larger particles, each tick adjusts by 5 microns. There is no absolute zero. Small remnants of beans may remain from testing (~200g per unit).

11 - Grinding Coffee

Dump your coffee dose into the Bean Dish. You can use a "Hot Start" (grinder spinning before beans) or a "Cold Start" (beans added before turning on). A "Hot Start" is typically recommended. After grinding (~10s for 20g), purge residual coffee using the "clicker" behind the bean funnels.

12 - Cleaning the Grinder

The EG-1 is designed for quick and easy daily cleaning, requiring no tools. Ensure the grinder is powered down and the on/off button is not depressed. Remove the Upper and Lower funnels to access the grind chamber. Pull down to disengage funnel covers, then pull up/down to remove them. Use a small brush to clean residue. A damp towel wipe is acceptable. Do not put any EG-1 parts in the dishwasher. Videos are available on the Weber Workshops YouTube channel (youtube.com/weberworkshops).

13 - Sleep & Power Off

The grinder enters sleep mode after 60 seconds of inactivity, dimming the LED display. It can be woken by pressing the on/off button. Powering down at mains is recommended overnight for cafes or during prolonged non-use at home.

Warnings and Safety Information

⚠️ The EG-1 Grinder is for professional use and should only be used by trained/qualified personnel. Minors or small children should not be allowed to operate or play with the machine.
