Katana Audio Sound Issue: Guide to Disabling Signal Enhancements
This document provides instructions to address common audio sound issues with Katana devices by disabling specific audio enhancements within the Windows operating system.
Step 1: Disable Audio Enhancements in Windows Sound Settings
This step involves navigating through Windows sound settings to locate and disable signal enhancements for your audio device.
Visual Description of Interface (Step 1): The first image displays the Windows Sound settings panel. It shows a list of audio output devices, including options like "MSI G24C6" and "Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio)". A volume slider is present, and a link labeled "More sound settings" is visible at the bottom.
- Navigate to System > Sound settings in Windows.
- Click on More sound settings. This action opens the Sound control panel.
- In the Playback tab, select your primary audio output device (e.g., "Speakers" associated with Realtek(R) Audio or NVIDIA High Definition Audio).
- Click the Properties button.
- A new dialog box, "Speakers Properties", will appear. Navigate to the Advanced tab.
- Locate the section titled Signal Enhancements.
- Uncheck the box next to Enable audio enhancements.
- Click Apply, then click OK to save the changes.
Visual Description of Interface (Step 1 - continued): The second image shows the "Speakers Properties" dialog box, specifically highlighting the "Advanced" tab. Within this tab, the "Signal Enhancements" section is visible, containing the checkbox for "Enable audio enhancements" which should be unchecked.
Step 2: Review MSI Center Settings (Optional)
While not directly related to disabling enhancements, checking settings within the MSI Center application can sometimes help optimize system performance, which may indirectly affect audio stability.
Visual Description of Interface (Step 2): The second image also displays the MSI Center application. Key sections include "Hardware Monitoring", "Features", "Support", and "Member Center". Under "Features", options like "User Scenario" (e.g., "Extreme Performance", "Balanced", "ECO-Silent") and "General Settings" are shown. A "GPU Switch" is also present, offering modes such as "Discrete Graphics Mode" and "MSHybrid Graphics Mode".
Consider reviewing your "User Scenario" settings and ensuring your GPU is operating in the desired mode (e.g., "Discrete Graphics Mode" for maximum performance if applicable) within the MSI Center.
