Stetsom Bravo Bass 3K Digital Amplifier User Manual

Introduction

Thank you for choosing a Stetsom product! This amplifier was developed with cutting-edge technology for those who want high-quality sound from audio systems with one or more speakers or even an audio wall system.

Before Installing

Please read this manual carefully.

  • All connections must be made with the product turned OFF.
  • A fuse must be installed between the amplifier and the battery to protect against overcurrent. The fuse needs to be installed as close to the battery as possible. Choose an appropriate fuse for the amplifier based on its consumption.
  • Use the wire recommended in this manual to keep cables from overheating and to obtain maximum power.
  • Keep the cables as short as possible to increase sound fidelity and avoid potential power losses.
  • Route the installation cables as far away as possible from the original vehicle wiring to prevent interference and noise in your audio system.
  • Perform the installation on a firm surface in a ventilated and dry place.
  • Installation should only be done by a qualified professional.

If you have questions, contact the store where the purchase or installation was done. For more information please contact our Customer Service: BR +55 18 2104-9412.

Input, Output, and Audio Controls

The amplifier features a top panel with various controls and connectors:

  • Front Panel Layout: The front panel displays controls and connectors labeled 1 through 6, with ventilation openings on the sides.
  • 1. RCA JACK INPUT: Input for the signal to be amplified. Connect to the radio/player using high-quality shielded RCA cables to prevent unwanted noise.
  • 2. LEVEL: Level control for the signal at the amplifier's input.
  • 3. CROSSOVER:
    • SUBSONIC FILTER: This variable control allows selection of the initial frequency from 8Hz to 40Hz for reproduction.
    • LOW PASS FILTER (L.P.F.): This variable control allows selection of the final frequency from 30Hz to 250Hz for reproduction.
  • 4. BASS BOOST:
    • BASS: Variable control for bass boost from 0dB to +10dB.
    • FREQ: Variable control for BASS boost frequency from 30Hz to 70Hz.
  • 5. FLAT KEY: This switch turns the FLAT mode on or off. When FLAT mode is active, settings on CROSSOVER and BOOST controls are disabled.
  • 6. OUTPUT CONNECTOR (SPEAKERS): MONO output for amplified signal to speakers. Check minimum impedance and polarities before installation.

Power Input

The rear panel of the amplifier includes power and cooling connections:

  • 7. COOLER: Provides cooling for the amplifier. Install in a cool place, ensuring ventilation openings are not obstructed.
  • 8. POSITIVE POWER SUPPLY CONNECTOR: Connect to the positive battery terminal using a minimum 4 AWG cable with a 150A fuse/circuit breaker installed as close to the battery as possible.
  • 9. REMOTE CONNECTOR (REM): Allows automatic activation of the amplifier when the radio/player turns on. Connect to the remote output of the radio/player using a minimum 18 AWG cable.
  • 10. NEGATIVE POWER SUPPLY CONNECTOR: Connect to the negative battery terminal using a minimum 4 AWG cable.

LED Indicators

The amplifier features several LED indicators:

  • POWER (blue LED): Indicates the amplifier is ON when lit.
  • PROT (top red LED): Indicates the amplifier has detected faults and entered protection mode, shutting down. Refer to the protection table for fault identification.
  • CLIP (lower red LED): Indicates signal saturation at the amplifier output.

Smart Protection System

When the protection system detects a fault, the amplifier shuts down and the PROT LED blinks. The number of blinks indicates the cause:

LED Blink Problem Solution
1x Short circuit or output overload. Check that speaker cables are well insulated and that the output impedance does not exceed the amplifier's supported limit.
2x Excessive temperature. Check if the amplifier is in a ventilated place or if fans are unobstructed. Keep the amp on for a few minutes to aid cooling.
3x Supply voltage less than 9V. Check battery voltage or power supply.
4x Supply voltage higher than 17V. Check battery voltage or power supply.

Installation

Recommended cable specifications for proper installation:

  • Power connectors (positive/negative): 4 AWG
  • Remote connector: 18 AWG
  • Output signal connectors (speakers): 8 AWG
  • Fuses or circuit breakers: 150A

The use of a fuse or circuit breaker is mandatory to protect the system from short circuits and overload. Install them as close to the battery as possible.

[!] Warning: Installation should only be done by qualified professionals with the product turned OFF.

The installation diagram shows the connections:

  • Radio/Player: Connects via RCA cables (INPUT) and a REM (remote) wire.
  • Amplifier: Connects to the Battery via POSITIVE (4 AWG cable with 150A fuse) and NEGATIVE (4 AWG cable) terminals. Ground connection is made to the vehicle chassis.
  • Speakers: Connect to the OUTPUT CONNECTOR (SPEAKERS) using 8 AWG cables.

[!] Note: Recommended use of an auxiliary battery.

Troubleshooting

Amplifier Does Not Turn On:

  • Verify that cables are connected correctly, ensuring electrical and mechanical contact.
  • Check fuses or circuit breakers for defects or blown states, ensuring compatibility with equipment consumption.
  • Ensure the battery is sufficiently charged for operation.

No Sound:

  • Check speaker cables or RCA plugs for correct connection and absence of defects.
  • Ensure the LEVEL control is not set to minimum.

PROT LED Flashing:

  • Check that the product's air vents are not blocked and that the product is not overheating.
  • Check speakers or cables for short circuits.

Sound Distortions:

  • If speakers are overloaded or defective, lower the level and readjust. Adjustment: a) On the radio/player, play music and set volume to 80% (e.g., 36 out of 45). b) On the amplifier, with LEVEL at minimum, increase gradually until CLIP LED flashes, then slowly decrease LEVEL until it turns off.

Weak Bass:

  • Check speaker cable polarities; reversed polarity can cause speakers to be out of phase.

Noise and Failure in Sound:

  • Ensure installation is not close to original vehicle wiring to prevent interference.
  • Create a separate power connection for the sound system, using a fuse/circuit breaker near the battery.
  • Ensure good grounding: remove paint from the chassis at the desired point, attach the wire with a ground terminal, and protect from oxidation with paint.
  • Avoid ground loops; use a star connection for all grounds from a single point.

[!] Note: Measurements are based on Stetsom laboratory equipment. Any updates to this manual will be available on the brand's website.

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)

The European Union (EU) WEEE Directive (2002/96/EC) obligates producers to take back electronic products at the end of their useful life. This directive covers most HME products sold in the EU since August 13, 2005. Manufacturers, distributors, and retailers must finance the costs of recovery, reuse, and recycling.

Instructions for Disposal of WEEE by Users in the European Union

The symbol on the product or packaging indicates it was marketed after August 13, 2005, and must not be disposed of with other waste. Users are responsible for handing over waste equipment to a designated collection point for WEEE recycling. Separate collection and recycling help conserve natural resources and protect human health and the environment.
