How to Set Up Your Remote
A - SimpleSet
SimpleSet is a quick setup method for popular brands. Follow these steps:
- Open the battery door and insert 2 AAA batteries.
- Turn on your device (ensure it's not on standby).
- Hold down the [MAGIC] button until the LED under the device blinks twice. The LED for the current device will remain lit.
- Press the [MODE] button repeatedly until the LED for the device you want to set up is lit.
- Hold down the digit corresponding to your device's brand (e.g., '6' for Samsung TV).
- The remote will send a Power command every 3 seconds until your device switches off.
- As soon as your device switches off, release the digit button.
- The LED will blink twice and turn off, indicating successful setup. The remote should now operate your device.
Note: If some keys do not work as expected, repeat the process from step 1; the remote will try the next available code.
B - Set Up by Code
If your brand is not listed in SimpleSet, use code entry:
- Turn on your device (ensure it's not on standby).
- Locate your device's brand in the code list (referencing pages 146-157 in the original document, not included here). Codes are organized by Device Type and Brand.
- Hold down the [MAGIC] button until the LED under the device blinks twice. The LED for the current device will remain lit.
- Press the [MODE] button repeatedly until the LED for the device you want to set up is lit.
- Enter the first 4-digit code listed for your brand (e.g., 0556 for a specific TV brand).
- The LED will blink twice and turn off.
- Aim the remote at your device and press the [POWER] button.
- If the device turns off, setup is complete. If not, repeat steps 3-7 with the next code in the list.
Note: Similar codes may exist. If keys function incorrectly, try the next code in the list.
Learning Functions
Your One For All remote can learn functions from any other working remote control. This is useful if functions are missing from your original remote. You can learn onto any key except [MAGIC] or [MODE]. You can also learn an entire device if no code is found.
Procedure:
- Ensure original remotes have working batteries. Position the original remote approximately 3cm from the OFA remote, pointing towards it.
- Hold down [MAGIC] until the LED blinks twice. The current device LED stays lit.
- Press [MODE] repeatedly until the LED for the target device is lit.
- Press '975'. The LED will blink twice.
- Press and release the key on the OFA remote you wish to program (e.g., the [3D] key). The red LED will blink continuously.
- Press and release the corresponding key on the original remote.
- The OFA remote's LED will blink twice, confirming the function is learned.
- Repeat steps 4-5 for each function you want to learn. You can learn from multiple remotes, but only one function per key.
- Once all functions are learned, hold down [MAGIC] until the LED blinks twice and turns off.
Hints:
- If the LED shows one long blink at step 6, the function was not learned correctly; try again from step 4.
- If keys do not work properly after setup, re-enter learning mode by repeating from step 1.
To Delete a Learned Function:
- Hold [MAGIC] until the LED blinks twice.
- Use [MODE] to select the device LED.
- Press '976'. The LED will blink twice.
- Press the key to delete twice. The LED will blink twice.
Activities
Activities group multiple devices for specific tasks (e.g., 'Watch TV' combines TV and Set Top Box). Keys within an Activity control the relevant device (e.g., Volume controls TV, Channels control STB).
The remote features two Activity Modes:
Watch TV Combinations:
- Combination 1: TV + STB
- Combination 2: TV + STB + AUD
- Combination 3: TV + AUD
- Combination 4: TV only
Watch Movie Combinations:
- Combination 1: TV + BLU
- Combination 2: TV + BLU + AUD
- Combination 3: TV + AUD
- Combination 4: TV only
Setting up an Activity:
- Hold [MAGIC] until the LED blinks twice.
- Press the desired Activity key (e.g., [WATCH TV]).
- Press the number corresponding to your desired combination (e.g., '3' for TV + AUD in Watch TV).
- The LED will blink twice and turn off.
Access Activities by pressing the [ACTIVITY] key. Return to device control using the [MODE] key.
AV Shift: In Activities, the navigation keys ([UP], [DOWN], [LEFT], [RIGHT], [OK]) temporarily control the TV for input selection when the [AV] key is pressed. They revert to the primary Activity device after 10 seconds of inactivity or upon pressing [OK].
Power Macro: Holding the [POWER] button for 2 seconds in any Activity turns all devices within that Activity on or off simultaneously.
Macros
Program any key (except [MAGIC] or [MODE]) to send multiple commands with a single press. Macros work across all device modes.
Program a Macro:
- Hold [MAGIC] until the LED blinks twice.
- Press '995'. The LED will blink twice.
- Select the key you want to program.
- Use [MODE] to select the device for the first command (e.g., TV).
- Press the key for the first command (e.g., [AV]).
- Repeat steps 4-5 for additional commands (up to 15 key presses).
- Hold [MAGIC] until the LED blinks twice to store the Macro.
Note: Press keys in the order you would normally use them. If the LED blinks long at steps 4 or 5, too many keys were entered; restart the process.
Deleting a Macro:
- Hold [MAGIC] until the LED blinks twice.
- Press '995'. The LED will blink twice.
- Press the key with the programmed Macro.
- Hold [MAGIC] until the LED blinks twice; the Macro is deleted.
Macros on Activities:
Macros can also be assigned to Activities. For example, program the [WATCH TV] Activity to send a Macro that turns on both the TV and Set Top Box upon selection. Follow the "Program a Macro" procedure, selecting the Activity key in step 3.
Volume Lock
Set the remote to always control volume with a specific device (e.g., TV or AV Receiver), regardless of the selected mode.
To Lock Volume to a Device:
- Hold [MAGIC] until the LED blinks twice.
- Press '993'. The LED will blink twice.
- Use [MODE] to select the device for volume control.
- Press [MAGIC] once. The LED will blink twice, and volume is now locked.
To Exclude a Device from Volume Lock:
- Hold [MAGIC] until the LED blinks twice.
- Press '993'. The LED will blink twice.
- Use [MODE] to select the device to remove from volume lock.
- Press [VOLUME DOWN]. The LED will blink twice, and the device is removed.
To Unlock Volume (Return to Default):
- Hold [MAGIC] until the TV key LED blinks twice.
- Press '993'. The LED will blink twice.
- Press [VOLUME UP]. The LED will blink twice, and volume is now unlocked.
Note: Volume Lock applies only in Device Mode; Activities are unaffected.
