TIBCO MFT Internet Server Clients Overview

TIBCO® Managed File Transfer Internet Server provides users with a Transfer client and a File Share client to conduct file transfers and share files.

If your account is configured with TransferRight, open a web browser and navigate to [HostName]:[Port]. Log in to the TIBCO Managed File Transfer (MFT) Internet Server transfer client; the Transfers page will be displayed. If you are configured as a FileShare user, you can click the File Share option to switch to the File Share page. The File Share option is only visible when the logged-on user is defined as a File Share user.

The Transfer client and File Share client are section 508 compliant, enabling visually impaired users to navigate computer applications by tabbing through fields and having words or letters announced by a screen reader.

Global Settings

The Transfer client and File Share client share common settings such as logout, history, and security settings. These global settings include:

Transfer Client

The Transfer client facilitates file transfer requests through a web browser.

Note: Ensure that Transfer client settings are configured in the TIBCO MFT Internet Server Administration web browser. For more details, consult the TIBCO Managed File Transfer Internet Server User's Guide.

Browser Client

The browser client allows for conducting file transfer requests and viewing transfer history. It also supports the following operations:

  • Delete File
  • Rename File
  • Create Directory
  • Rename Directory
  • Delete Directory

Note: These operations require administrator enablement in TIBCO Managed File Transfer Command Center.

Transfers

Transfer file requests can be made on the Transfer page. These requests are set up by an administrator for end users.

For this client, Directory Downloads and Directory Uploads are the primary functions. Permissions defined by the administrator determine the ability to delete or rename files and folders. Icons for these actions appear at the top of the page if enabled. Right-clicking files and folders also provides these options.

Directory Downloads

The DirectoryDownload folder is configured for users to access and download files. To download files, click the folder, then click the desired file. The download will commence automatically. This folder may contain subdirectories with downloadable files.

Directory Uploads

The DirectoryUpload folder is configured for users to upload files. To upload, open the folder, then drag and drop files or click the upload link to select files in the "File upload to folder" window.

A file named 'testfile' is shown in the upload area.

Change Password

To change your password, navigate to your account > Settings and select the Change Password tab.

The Change Password tab includes the following fields:

Field Description
Current Password Enter the current password used for sign-on.
New Password Enter the new desired password.
Confirm New Password Re-enter the new password.
Change Password Click after entering the passwords correctly.
Clear Click to clear the entered passwords.

Keys

Encryption keys and certificates are required for data encryption. If PGP encryption is used for FTP or SSH transfers, you can upload your public keys or download the server's FTP, PGP, or SSH public keys from the Settings page. Navigate to your account > Settings to manage these keys:

  • PGP Public Keys
  • SSH Public Keys
  • FTP Public Keys

Note: The Key tabs are not visible to all users. An MFT Admin must configure user access to these tabs.

PGP Public Keys

To secure data using PGP encryption, download PGP public keys from the server or upload your PGP public keys to the server. TIBCO MFT Internet Server can encrypt and decrypt PGP-encrypted files by exchanging PGP public keys between the client and server.

The PGP Public Key tab is used to configure the PGP public key.
