Product Usage Instructions

Replacing Rollator Handbrakes:

1. Remove the loop brake handle by first removing the hand grip.
2. If a replacement handgrip is available, cut it off using a sharp knife. If not, remove the handlebar first.
3. Soak the handgrip in hot water for 5 to 10 minutes to loosen the adhesive bond and slide it off the handlebar.
4. Identify the location to grab the rollator handle for removal.
5. Cover the handgrips with a towel to avoid scratches and turn them down towards the floor using pliers to release the adhesive.
6. Locate and remove the screw securing the loop brake handle on the handlebar.
7. Slide off the old loop brake handle and replace it with a new one, securing it with a screw.
8. If needed, remove the wheel to ease brake installation.
9. Cut off the tail end of the old brake set using wire cutters.
10. Loosen the small silver bolt at the bottom of the brake wire and remove the spring and black cover.
11. Slide the remaining wire up through the top brake holder and discard the old brake mechanism.
12. Install the new brake through the top hole, adding the spring and black cover.
13. Feed the end of the wire through the bottom brake loop, ensuring the spring is taut between the top and bottom loops.
14. Slide the silver bolt onto the wire from the bottom and tighten it using pliers to test brake security.
15. Adjust brake tightness using the upper bolt if needed. Loosen to increase brake tightness.
16. Regularly check and maintain your brakes for proper performance.

HOW TO REPLACE ROLLATOR BRAKE(S)

• To remove the loop brake handle, the hand grip has to be removed. If you have an additional or replacement handgrip, you can cut the handgrip off using a sharp knife or box cutter.
• If you do not have a replacement handgrip, you will need to fi rst remove the handle bar from the unit. Place the handgrip in hot water for 5 to 10 minutes. This will loosen the adhesive bond inside and expand the handgrip so that you can slide it off
  the handlebar.

1. Identify location where it is recommended that you grab the rollator handle for removal (image 1).
2. Use towel or cloth to cover handgrips to avoid scratches and turn down towards the fl oor (image 2). It will help to turn the handgrip as you turn down with the pliers. Handle will pop releasing the adhesive for easy removal.
3. Locate the screw on the top of the brake handle that secures the loop brake handle on the handlebar.
4. Remove the screw using a screwdriver. Slide the loop brake handle off the handlebar.
5. Slide the new loop brake handle on the handlebar and screw in place.
6. If desired, remove wheel to ease brake installation.
7. Using wire cutters, clip tail end of old brake set off (image 4). Using an allen key, loosen the small silver bolt at bottom of brake wire. Once loose, slide bolt off wire and remove spring and black cover (image 5).
8. Slide the remaining wire up through the top brake holder (image 6). Discard the old brake mechanism.
9. On brake replacement, loosen and remove bottom bolt, spring and black cover (image 7).
10. Slide new brake through top hole, completing the removal process in reverse. Add spring and black spring cover on the wire (image 8).
11. Feed end of wire through the bottom brake loop, ensuring the spring is taut between the top and bottom loops.
12. Slide silver bolt onto the wire from the bottom (image 9).
13. Using pliers to pull bottom of wire tight, tighten the silver bolt to desired level. Test brakes to ensure they are secure.
    IMPORTANT: Brake tightness can be adjusted after installation using this upper bolt. Loosen bolt to increase brake tightness. CAUTION: It is important to always check your brakes for proper performance and maintain them on a regular basis.
14. Add an adhesive or bonding agent inside the handgrip and install the handgrip on the handlebar.
    WARNING: Make sure that you are installing the handgrip properly with the handgrip palm rests facing inwards of the frame.
    CAUTION: It is important to always check your brakes and all components of the rollator for proper function before every use.
