FAQs
You can connect it either way. It’s your choice! Personally I prefer Bluetooth, leaving my USB ports open for other things. Others, however, may prefer to keep their Bluetooth radio turned off and use the dongle.
How do I do Horizontal scrolling on this mouse?
You can also scroll horizontally with the tilt-wheel, perfect for large spreadsheets, big images, and web pages.
How to Change batteries?
To change batteries in M720 slide the battery compartment cover down and then lift it off. Insert the battery, making sure that it faces the correct direction and then replace the battery cover.
Does this mouse work in glass surface?
No, this isn’t a laser mouse, so it wouldn’t work well without a mousepad on glass.
Does this have DPI button to switch settings?
Just switch to flip between paired devices.
Is the M720 comfortable for users with large hands?
Yes, it has a grip that fits a variety of hand sizes.
Is the clicking quiet?
Definitely not, has very mechanical clicks, but it’s a great mouse

To whom it may concern:
I purchased the triathlon M720 mouse from Best Buy. There are no instructions. When I move the mouse in a direction, the mouse keeps on moving the screen. What is wrong. I will be returning this mouse this after noon.
I purchased the triathlon M720 mouse from Best Buy. There are no instructions. When I move the mouse in a direction, the mouse keeps on moving the screen. What is wrong. I will be returning this mouse this after noon.
Why does my Logitech M720 mouse cursor keep moving on the screen after I stop moving the mouse?
If your Logitech M720 Triathlon mouse cursor continues to move on the screen after you have stopped moving the physical device, it is likely a tracking or software configuration issue. Before returning the product, please try the following steps:
If these steps do not resolve the "drifting" cursor, the unit may have a hardware defect, and proceeding with your return to Best Buy would be the appropriate next step.

sad. i cannot use this mouse with my company provided laptop. bluetooth is disabled and i cannot install the unifying dongle software. i need a plug and play solution that works with windows 10. which combo sets would work for me?
Which Logitech combo sets are plug-and-play for Windows 10 without requiring software installation or Bluetooth?
For a company-provided laptop with restricted software installation and disabled Bluetooth, you need a device that uses a standard USB receiver (HID-compliant) which does not require the Logitech Unifying or Logi Options+ software to function for basic use.
While the M720 you currently have should work as a basic plug-and-play mouse using the included USB receiver without any software, the "Unifying" features (like pairing new devices) do require software. If your current receiver is not already paired to the mouse, you will not be able to link them on that laptop.
For a guaranteed plug-and-play experience on Windows 10 without software, consider these Logitech combo sets that use a standard 2.4GHz USB receiver:
Note: Always ensure the combo you purchase explicitly states it includes a "pre-paired" USB receiver to avoid needing the Unifying software for the initial setup.

The instructions for the M720 mouse totally miss one of the main features of the mouse: the selectable scroll wheel standard/hyper select button on the top. The images on the instructions page – https://manuals.plus/logitech/m720-mouse-manual#related_manuals_resources – show the button between the scroll wheel and the battery LED, but never describe its purpose. When in the down position, the wheel has normal tactile resistance and movement, but when in the up position the wheel spins freely with the slightest push or pull. I did not know this, despite reading the product info, and thought the mouse was defective after a few days. I took it to Best Buys where they also did not know the problem – return desk, not the Geek Squad. When my replacement mouse did the same thing, I finally figured out what that button that seemed to do nothing on top of the mouse was for. I was on the verge of opening it up and looking for the problem.
So, please update your docs. It is a good design, a good fix for the previous problem of having an automatic hyper-selector based on wheel speed that was prone to getting stuck. Just tell us about it.
Thanks

What is the purpose of the button located between the scroll wheel and the battery LED on the Logitech M720?
The button located directly behind the scroll wheel (between the wheel and the battery LED) is the dual-mode scrolling toggle. This button allows you to switch between two distinct scrolling modes:
While the manual identifies this area as the Hyper-fast scroll-wheel (Feature #5), it may not explicitly detail the mechanical toggle button's operation. If your wheel feels "loose" or spins without stopping, it is likely in Hyper-fast mode; simply press the button to click it back into the standard tactile mode.
