Product Usage Instructions

What’s in the Box?

The box includes the Exit Sign. Additional gear needed for
installation includes a drill, pliers, screwdriver, and ladder.

Installation Preparation:

Prior to installation, ensure a junction box is installed in the
ceiling or wall. Use only specified lamps for re-lamping to avoid
damage or unsafe conditions. Allow the battery to charge for at
least 24 hours after connecting electricity.

Components:

Ensure all components are available before starting:

  • (A) Exit Sign Housing + Panel
  • (B) Canopy Mount
  • (C) Spider Plate
  • (D) Ground Wire

Mounting Options:

Choose from Ceiling Mount, Wall Mount, or Edge Mount options for
installation based on your preference.

Installation Guide (Ceiling Mount):

STEP 1:

a. Turn off the circuit breaker.

b. Unscrew and set aside the housing plate.

STEP 2:

a. Remove top mount plug covers from the exit sign.

b. Align canopy mount with the housing and secure with hex
nuts.

c. Screw self-tapping screws in the designated area.

STEP 3:

a. Run luminaire wires through the canopy mount and junction
box.

b. Install spider plate if required.

STEP 4:

a. Snap the housing plate back into place.

b. Reinstall the removed housing plate.

c. Install chevron directional arrows on the exit sign.

d. Test the light by turning on the circuit breaker. LED
indicator will light up if the backup battery is connected.

FAQ:

  1. Q: What should I do if the battery is not
    fully charged?
  2. A: Allow the battery to charge for at least 24
    hours after connecting electricity before using the exit sign for
    emergency purposes.

IMPORTANT: Prior to exit sign installation, install junction box in ceiling or wall. When re-lamping, use only lamps specified in the exit sign. Using other lamp types may result in transformer damage or unsafe conditions. The battery in this unit may not be fully charged upon unboxing. After electricity is hooked up to the unit, let the battery charge for at least 24 hours. It is then ready for normal operation. Unused wires must be capped with a wire nut.

Ceiling Mount

a. Turn off circuit breaker before installation. b. Determine the mounting type configuration (Mounting Options): 1. Ceiling Mount 2. Wall Mount 3. Edge Mount
STEP 1 a. Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the housing plate and set it aside.

b. Slide out the housing plate (the side that does not have removable plug covers) and set it aside.

STEP 2 a. Remove the top mount plug covers from the exit sign. Note: You may need to pinch the cover plugs to remove them.

b. Align the canopy mount (B) with the exit sign housing, then thread the threaded nipple (J) through the canopy mount (B) into the exit sign housing.
c. Insert the washer (I), then use the two large hex nuts (G) to tighten each side of the threaded nipple (J) to secure the canopy mount (B).

d. Then, screw the self-tapping screws in the area where the plug covers were removed from Step 2a.

STEP 3 a. Run the luminaire wires from the threaded nipple (J), through the canopy mount (B), then feed excessive wire through the junction box. b. Install the spider plate (C) if needed.
c. Connect the luminaire wires to supply wires using included wire nuts (E): · White to White (Neutral) · Ground Wire (included) to Bare Copper (Ground) · For 120V: Black to Black (Live) · For 277V: Red to Black (Live) d. Connect battery to the PC board by plugging wire into socket. e. Align two mounting screws (F) to each side of the canopy mount holes to the junction box, then install the exit sign to the junction box.

Use the paper template to install the chevron directional arrows (L) to the exit sign. d. Turn on the circuit breaker to test the light. the canopy mount (B) and the junction box.

d. Install the spider plate (C) if needed.

e. Insert the self-tapping screws (H) into the canopy mount (B) to secure it to the exit sign.

STEP 2 a. Feed luminaire wires from the housing plate mounting hole through the non-center canopy mount (B) hole. b. Use two mounting screws (F) to install canopy mount (B) to the edge of the exit sign, then tighten with small hex nuts (G).

Double check if fixture is properly connected and circuit breaker hasn’t been tripped.
Check proper wattage and for unobstructed fixture.
Ensure the battery is properly connected and compatible. Verify the battery is securely plugged in and the supply wires are properly connected. Ensure the battery is properly connected.
Check that fixture wiring connections are secure. Check that the lights on the same circuit are not overloading the circuit. Verify fixture compatibility and that it is grounded.
Verify light is connected to surge protector securely. Look for nearby interferences that can cause buzzing. Such as televisions, radios, computers, etc.
