SAFETY WARNINGS FOR USE
LAPTOP PARTS
The following list of safety warnings has been compiled in accordance with the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988 (GPSR). Its purpose is to protect users from potential hazards arising from the misuse of products. The warnings have been formulated in a simple and understandable way to be accessible to a wide audience, including the elderly and people with reduced mobility.
Laptop parts on offer from manufacturer NTEC sp. z o.o. are CE-certified, which indicates their compliance with EU safety standards.
Use laptop parts as intended and as recommended by the manufacturer.
BASIC HAZARDS AND PRECAUTIONS
1. Electrical risk
- Incorrectly connecting parts (e.g. keyboard, DC socket) to the motherboard can cause a short circuit and damage both the parts and the laptop.
- Working with a laptop plugged in increases the risk of electric shock.
- Improper earthing of the technician when installing parts can lead to damage to components as a result of electrostatic discharge.
2. Mechanical risks
- Improper installation (e.g. excessive force when installing the keyboard or fan) can lead to damage to the delicate connectors or latches.
- Careless handling of laptop parts during installation can result in breakage or deformation.
- Improper placement of parts (e.g. the CPU fan) can lead to damage to other components, such as the motherboard.
3. Thermal risk
- An improperly installed CPU fan or a damaged CPU fan can lead to CPU overheating, compromising the longevity of the laptop.
- When replacing the CPU fan, failure to apply thermal paste properly can result in overheating of the system.
SPECIFIC HAZARDS OF USE
4. Compatibility risks
- The use of incompatible replacements (e.g. a keyboard with a different key layout, a fan with a different specification) can lead to problems with the operation of the laptop.
- DC sockets vary in size and voltage, and using the wrong model can damage the laptop.
5. Installation and dismantling risks
- Incorrect disassembly (e.g. excessive force when disconnecting the DC socket) may damage the motherboard or other components.
- Small parts such as screws, snaps or washers can be lost during installation, which will affect the stability of the assembly.
- When replacing the keyboard or fan, there is a risk of damaging delicate ribbons or signal cables.
6. Utility risk
- Incorrectly installed parts may malfunction or not function at all.
- A damaged or improperly installed CPU fan can generate excessive noise, which affects user comfort.
- An incompatible or damaged DC socket may prevent your laptop from charging.
7. Environmental risks
- Improper disposal of used parts, such as fans or DC sockets, can have a negative impact on the environment.
8. Risks associated with a lack of appropriate equipment and skills
- The lack of suitable tools (e.g. precision screwdrivers, anti-static mats) can lead to damage to parts during assembly.
- An inexperienced person performing a part replacement can damage both the components and the laptop.
MAINTENANCE PRECAUTIONS
9. Maintenance and cleaning
- Clean the parts regularly with a soft, dry cloth or compressed air – do not use water or aggressive chemicals.
- Check the condition of the parts to ensure they are fully operational.
10. Storage:
- Store the parts in a dry and dust-free place to prevent mechanical and electrical damage.
ADDITIONAL WARNINGS
11. Child protection
- Keep parts out of the reach of children.
12. Avoid modifications:
- Do not attempt to modify or repair the product yourself. In case of problems, contact the manufacturer or its authorised service centre.
13. Action in the event of an emergency:
- If the unit exhibits abnormal operation, such as overheating, sparking, unusual odour or noises, immediately switch it off and disconnect it from the power supply and then contact the service centre.
- If you observe any unsafe product behaviour, contact the manufacturer urgently.
THE IMPORTANCE OF COMPLYING WITH THE WARNINGS
Following the above warnings minimises the risk of personal injury, equipment failure and property damage. Ignoring the recommendations can lead to serious health and material risks. Keep yourself and your loved ones safe by observing the precautions indicated.
