Frequently Asked Questions

How do i use Why won’t the speakers in my ceiling work?this in home theater applications? my avr is 8 ohms

Depending on what amplifier or theater system you will be using, you can use them as regular add on speakers to supplement your existing ones.

How do speakers in ceilings operate?

No, ceiling speakers typically function as passive speakers, which means they lack internal amplifiers and are powered by speaker cables connected to an external amplifier. Each ceiling speaker is connected to the binding posts on the amplifier to do this.

Do ceiling speakers play music well?

Ceiling speakers are indeed excellent for playing music. Similar to being at a concert hall or live music event, they have the power to immerse you in a surround audio experience.

Do ceiling speakers require a receiver?

It is necessary to connect passive in-ceiling speakers to a receiver or amplifier. Speakers installed in walls and ceilings are typically passive speakers. They are thus not required to be connected to a power source. They just require a connection to a receiver or amplifier that can also serve as a power supply.

How do built-in speakers function?

In-wall speakers are tuned while they are installed in a wall. This is taken into consideration during the design of the enclosure and the drivers, ensuring that once you install them at home, the system sounds identical to one from a speaker located farther away from the listening area.

Do my ceiling speakers need a subwoofer?

Even if ceiling speakers are capable of producing all the bass and low-end frequencies, a subwoofer will be helpful in handling them. Additionally, it significantly improves the overall sound quality of your sound system.

Is the size of ceiling speakers standard?

Ceiling speakers often come in either 6.5 or 8-inch diameters. It is not the total size of the speaker, but the size of the cone that is being discussed. For small to medium-sized spaces, the 6.5-inch makes for a very useful and adaptable speaker.

Why won’t the speakers in my ceiling work?

Why won’t the speakers in my ceiling work?
The audio source, the wiring, or the speakers themselves may be the issue. You could swap the connections at the source, like disconnect a working connection and attach it to the problem speaker to see if it works — if it does then the source is the problem.

How is a speaker mounted on the ceiling removed?

Use a flat-head screwdriver to disengage any retention clips securing the speaker assembly to the mounting system in the ceiling. Carefully pull the speaker out of the ceiling slightly. Remove the speaker fully from the ceiling after unplugging the audio cords from the speaker’s back.
