Functional description

The NR1 is a NFC reader module mounted on the B-pillar of the car. It used the NFC technology to grant access to the car. The NR1 connects to smartphones, wearables and NFC tags to authorize door opening.

The NR1 acts as an interface between car electronics control Unit and applications on NFC devices. The car ECU requests the NR1 which communicates with the NFC device on the integrated antenna using a magnetic field.

Usage description

The user places his paired NFC device (a smartcard or a mobile phone / wearable with an integrated secure element ID) onto the NR1. The NR1 authorizes the user to enter the car automatically as soon as a valid device is recognized. Then the door is unlocked and the driver can access the car.

For additional information, please refer to the User Manual provided by the OEM.
