Product Usage Instructions

Product Installation

  • Step 1: Pull the device down until the bead chain is tight and lean it on the wall. Draw a horizontal line along its top edge.
  • Step 2: Use screws or double-sided tape to mount the bracket on the wall.
    • Note: Screwing is recommended for better stability.
  • Step 3: Slide the device downwards against the bracket until hearing a snap sound.
    • Note: Ensure the pins on the battery face upwards and towards the panel button.

Operation Guide

  • Motor rotates clockwise by pressing the ‘Up’ button in default setting.
  • To change the motor’s rotating direction, press the ‘Reset’ button three times.
  • Set the lower limit position by lowering the shade to its lower limit and pressing the ‘Down’ button five times.

Connecting to Smart Home Devices

Requirements:

  • A smartphone or tablet with iOS 17.0+ / Android OS 8.1+
  • A Matter-compatible smart home app (e.g., Apple HomeKit, Google

Pairing Steps:

  1. Scan the Matter QR code on the device or input the 11 digits at the back in the smart home app.
  2. Follow the app instructions to add the device.
  3. Customize scenes and automations as needed.

  • Q: How do I know if the battery level is low?
    • A: The indicator light will flash green three times when the battery level is below 25% and five times when it’s below 5%.
  • Q: What should I do if the device stops working?
    • A: If the device stops working or shows a failure report, try reactivating the battery pack by connecting it using a USB-C cable.

    • Step 2: Pull the device down until the bead chain is tighten, keep the chain tight and lean the device on the wall. Then draw a horizontal line along its top edge.

    • Step 4: Use screws or doublesided tape to mount the bracket.
      • Note: Screwing is recommended. Double-sided tape only works well for clean, dry and smooth surface such as metal or glass.

    • Step 5: Position your device flat up against the Bracket. The two back grooves on the device should be inside the two lips on the bracket.
    • Step 6: Slide the device downwards against the bracket until hearing a “snap” sound.

    • Step 7: Insert battery into your device, then the device will be initialized automatically and ready for use as the indicator lights on.
    • Note: Make sure the pins on battery face upwards and towards the panel button.

Check rolling direction

  • Check if your shade’s Open and Close direction is in consistence with ‘Up’ and ‘Down’ button.
  • If the direction is opposite, quickly press ‘Reset’ button 3 times to reverse it.

Set limit position

  • Step 1: Set upper limit position
    • Raise the shade to its upper limit position, upon reaching this upper limit, stop the motion and then press ‘Up’ button 5 times.
  • Step 2: Set lower limit position
    • Lower the shade to its lower limit position, upon reaching this lower limit, stop the motion and then press ‘Down’ button 5 times.

Set speed

  • Arpobot Smart Shade is equipped with three preset speed configurations.
  • Press ‘Up’ or ‘Down’ button 3 times to change the motor speed faster or slower.

Pair to smart home platforms

Things needed before pairing:

  1. A Thread-enabled smart home hub with Matter protocol is required. Some of the smart hubs:
    • Apple HomePod (2nd Gen+)
    • Apple HomePod Mini
    • Apple TV 4K (2nd Gen+)
    • Google Nest WiFi
    • Google Nest Hub/Hub Max
    • Amazon Echo (4th Gen+)

  2. A smartphone or tablet is required. ios 17.0+ / Android OS 8.1+
  3. A Matter-compitable smart home app with latest version is required.

  • Step 1: Scan the Matter QR code at the top of device or input the 11 digits at the back of the device in the Apple Home App, tap “Home” and then tap “+” in the top right corner to enter the “Add Device (Accessory)” page.
  • Step 2: Follow the instruction. Customize scenes and automations.

Tips when using:

  • Gently press the buckle to remove the Battery Pack.
  • Hardly press the buckle to slide the main body from the Bracket.
  • Remove the battery only when the motor is not in operation, as disconnecting power during activity may disrupt its upper and lower limits.

Charge your device

  • Arpobot Smart Shade is designed to be powered by a swappable battery that can be used as a portable power bank.

Note:

  • You may also view device battery level within the smart home app.
  • The battery pack may enter a safety mode where it neither charges the device nor flashes any lights if it detects a large current. To reactivate the battery pack, simply connect it using a USB-C cable.

Important Safety Instructions

  • Do not use the device for shades that exceed its maximum load capacity of 5kg.
  • Children shall not play with the appliance.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
  • WARNING: the drive shall be disconnected from its power source during cleaning, maintenance and when replacing parts.
  • Frequently examine the installation for imbalance and signs of wear or damage to cables springs and fixings. Do not use if repair or adjustment is necessary.
  • Do not operate when maintenance, such as window cleaning, is being carried out in the vicinity.
  • Before installing the drive, remove any unnecessary cords or components and disable any equipment not needed for powered operation
