LA CROSSE TECHNOLOGY 617-710B Atomic Analog Alarm Clock
Power Up
- Select your Time Zone and DST (Daylight Saving Time) settings on the back of the clock.
- TIME ZONES
- EST – Eastern
- CST – Central
- MST – Mountain
- PST – Pacific
- DST OPTIONS
- ON – DST all year long
- AUTO – Changes spring and fall
- OFF – Standard Time all year long
- Insert 1-AA battery into your Alarm Clock.
- Position the clock near an exterior wall that faces Fort Collins, Colorado. The hands will move to the 12 O’Clock position and remain there until the WWVB Atomic Time Signal (page 4) is received.
Note: If your time is incorrect after the signal is received, press and release the RESET button once using a paperclip or similar object – this will allow the clock to set again correctly. See page 3 for manual set instructions.
Set Time Manually
- For immediate setup, use a paperclip or similar object to hold the SET button in until the hands reach the correct time.
- The clock will then run from this time and adjust according to the selectors on the back if the Atomic Time Signal is picked up in the future.
Time Alarm
Set Alarm Time
Turn the ALARM SET knob counterclockwise until the Alarm Time Hand is at your desired wake-up time. When the alarm sounds, it will increase in frequency until snoozed or shut off using the ALARM ON/OFF Switch.
Activate/Deactivate the Alarm
Use the ALARM ON/OFF Switch on the side of the clock to activate (up) or deactivate (down) the alarm.
Snooze
When the alarm sounds, press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button on the top of the clock to silence the alarm for 5 minutes. Snooze may be repeated.
Night Light
Press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button on the top of the clock to enable the Night Light for 5 seconds.
Clock Reset
If the clock isn’t working correctly, press the RESET button with a paperclip or similar object. The clock should then follow the same startup process with the hands moving to the 12 O’Clock position while it searches for the Atomic Time Signal.
Atomic Time Signal
- The clock will begin searching for the WWVB Atomic Time Signal when powered on. Depending on your location, this can sometimes take a few days.*
- When the signal is received, the time will be set according to your TIME ZONE and DST Selector settings. The clock will run normally and automatically perform daily searches at 00:50:40, 01:50:40, 03:50:40, 04:50:40, 05:50:40, 06:50:40, 12:50:40, 18:50:40, 22:50:40 and 23:50:40 to keep your time synced and accurate.
- If desired, press the REC button to perform a manual signal search.

- We cannot guarantee the WWVB radio signal coming from Fort Collins, CO, will reliably reach every location. Try moving the clock away from other electronics and near a window for the best results.

Care & Maintenance
When batteries of different brand or type are used together, or new and old batteries are used together, some batteries may be over-discharged due to a difference of voltage or capacity. This can result in venting, leakage, and rupture and may cause personal injury.
- Do not mix Alkaline, Lithium, standard, or rechargeable batteries.
- Always purchase the correct size and grade of battery most suitable for the intended use.
- Always replace the whole set of batteries at one time, taking care not to mix old and new ones, or different battery types.
- Clean the battery contacts and also those of the device prior to battery installation.
- Ensure the batteries are installed correctly with regard to polarity (+ and -).
