Product overview

With the Kyocera Printer Setup Tool, you can connect your printer to a wireless network, and then install recommended drivers and utilities. You can access this tool through the KYOCERA Document Solutions website or in the Product Library disc that came with your printer.

You can only use Kyocera Printer Setup Tool for printers with network capabilities.

Conventions

The following conventions may be used in this guide:

• Bold text is used for menu items, buttons, and providing emphasis where needed.
• Screen, text box, and drop-down menu titles are spelled and punctuated exactly as they are displayed on the screen.

Preparing to install

• In Windows operating systems, you must have administrator rights to install the application.
• For the installer to download any required components, make sure that your computer is connected to the internet.
• Make sure that your printer is turned on and connected to the same network as your computer.

1. From a web browser, go to https://kyocera.info.
2. Select your printer, operating system, and language.
3. In Utility, go to Kyocera Printer Setup Tool, then select the download button.
   Kyocera Printer Setup Tool is available only in Utility if your printer is supported by the application.
4. To begin the download, read and accept the license agreement.
   Take note of the download location.
5. In your computer, go to the download location, then run the installer.
   If necessary:
   • Extract the files.
   • Allow the installer to make changes to your computer.

Setting up your printer

1. Turn on your printer, then do any of the following:
   

   If your printer has	Make sure to
   Not yet been connec‐ ted to the network and has Wi-Fi capability	Depending on your printer, in the printer operation panel, do either of the following: • Go to Menu > Quick Setup Wizard > Network Setup. If prompted, enter your user credentials. Select Start, then go to Network Setting > Wi-Fi Easy Setup. • Go to Menu > System/Network. If prompted, enter your user credentials. Select Network Setting > Wi-Fi Easy Setup. Follow the instructions on your printer operation panel. Take note of the Device Name and Password. • Depending on the security permissions of your printer, during printer selection, you may be required to sign in as an administrator to your printer using the Device Name and Password. Make sure to enter the correct administrator credentials for your printer. For more information, see the printer Operation Guide. • If you are setting up your printer for the first time, then, after setting the time zone, date, and time, select Wi-Fi Easy Setup. • Menus may vary depending on your printer. For more information, see the printer Operation Guide.
   Not yet been connected to the network and only has wired-network capability	Connect your printer to your network using a network cable. Make sure that your printer and computer are on the same network.
   Already been connected to the network using either Wi-Fi or network cable	Check that your printer and computer are on the same network.
   No Wi-Fi- or wirednetwork capabilities	Install the printer driver and other components from the web installer, standalone installer packages, or Product Library disc for an expanded feature set. You can only use Kyocera Printer Setup Tool for printers with network capabilities.

2. In Kyocera Printer Setup Tool, read the license agreement, then select Agree.
3. From the list of devices, select the printer to set up.
   
   • If necessary, select SNMP settings, then review or modify any of the available options.
   • If your preferred printer is not displayed, use the search box to find your printer, or follow the instructions on the screen.
   • Make sure that your selected printer is not being configured by another user. If you are unable to proceed, check the printer connection status, then try again.
   • If your problem persists, then contact your system administrator.
   • Depending on the security permissions of your printer, you may be required to sign in as an administrator to your printer using the Device Name and Password. Make sure to enter the correct administrator credentials for your printer. For more information, see the printer Operation Guide.
4. If necessary, configure the Wi-Fi network connection of your printer.
   
   To proceed without configuring the network connection, select Skip.
   a) Do either of the following:
   • To connect the printer to the same network as your computer, select Yes.
   • To connect the printer to a different network, select No, then do either of the following:
   • Select the correct network from the list. If necessary, enter the network password, then select Connect.
   • If your preferred network is not listed, select Manual setup.
   Configure the network settings, then select Submit.
   b) Depending on your printer configuration, if required, press the specific key on your printer as instructed on the screen.
   c) Review the result. If necessary, correct any issues then repeat the
   process.
   d) Select Next.
5. Review the printer information, then do either of the following:
   Install drivers and utilities
   a. If preferred, select Use host name as port name.
   b. Select Install.
   c. After the installation, select from the following options:
   Print a test page
   Test the connection and operation of the printer by printing the Windows Printer Test Page.
   Set as default printer
   Make this your default printing device.
   Set Duplex as default
   The driver is set to duplex mode by default. You can make exceptions to the default later by selecting options in the driver Quick Print or Basic tab.
   d. Select Next.
   Skip installation
   To proceed without installing drivers and utilities, select Skip.
6. Select Finish.
   If the installation fails, then resolve any issues before repeating the process. If necessary, contact your system administrator.

Troubleshooting

This section includes the most common problems that you may encounter when using the application. For each problem listed, you can do any of the recommended solutions. If your problem is not listed, contact your system administrator or qualified service personnel.

Problem	Possible cause	Recommended solution
In the list of devices, I am not able to see the printer I want to set up.	Your printer may be turned off.	Turn on the printer.
	Your printer may not be connected to the network.	Make sure that your printer is connected to the same network as your computer. For wireless connection, ensure that Wi-H direct is enabled in your printer. For wired connection, do any of the following: • Reconnect the LAN cable. • Connect the LAN cable to a different port in the router. • Use a different LAN cable.
	Your computer is not connected to the network.	Check your network settings to confirm your connection. If necessary, delete the network profile then reconnect.
During Wi-Fi Setup, no Wi-Fi connection is established.	Your Wi-Fi router is turned off.	Turn on your Wi-Fi router. Use a different network. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator or qualified service personnel.
	You may have entered incorrect network credentials.	Make sure that your network credentials are correct.
I am unable to successfully install the complete drivers and utilities.	You may not have enough storage space on your computer.	Delete or move files that you no longer use, or uninstall applications you no longer need to secure more storage space.
	You may not have administrator rights to perform installation.	Make sure you have administrator rights or use an administrator account.
	Your computer might be incompatible to the drivers or utilities you are installing.	• Refer to the Release Notes or ReadMe that accompany this product. • Contact your system administrator.
