Thule 4200 Automotive Awning Setup and Takedown Guide
Product Overview
The Thule 4200 Automotive Awning is designed for vehicle-mounted applications, providing shade and shelter. This guide details the steps for its proper setup and takedown.
Setup Instructions
- Prepare the Crank Handle: Assemble the multi-segment crank handle by connecting its parts.
- Attach the Crank: Insert the assembled crank handle into the designated opening on the awning's housing.
- Extend the Awning: Rotate the crank handle to slowly extend the awning fabric from its housing. Continue until the fabric is fully extended.
- Deploy Support Legs:
- Locate the support legs stored within the awning's front bar.
- Release the locking mechanism on each leg.
- Extend each leg downwards to the ground.
- Adjust the height of each leg using the locking mechanism to ensure the awning is level and stable.
- Secure the Awning: Ensure both support legs are firmly planted and locked in place. The awning is now fully deployed.
Rain Drainage Feature
The Thule 4200 awning is designed to manage rainwater. To facilitate drainage during rain, adjust one of the support legs to be lower than the other. This creates a slight slope, allowing water to run off the awning fabric and prevent pooling.
Takedown Instructions
- Retract Support Legs:
- Release the locking mechanism on each support leg.
- Collapse each leg and re-secure it into its storage position within the awning's front bar.
- Retract the Awning Fabric: Insert the crank handle into the housing and rotate it in the opposite direction to slowly retract the awning fabric back into its housing.
- Secure the Awning: Ensure the awning is fully retracted and securely closed. Remove and disassemble the crank handle for storage.
