SATEL-B2 Motherboard Overview

The SATEL-B2 motherboard is designed to house a SATEL radio module. It regulates the supply voltage for the radio module and provides electrical connections for communication between the radio module and the user system. Key features include:

• Operating voltage: +7...+27.5 VDC
• RS232 serial data interface (Port1)
• One general purpose input (controls GPIO5 input of the radio module)
• One general purpose output (controlled by GPIO8 output of the radio module)
• Secondary RS232 serial interface (Port2) for control purposes (“Diagnostics”, SL commands)

The motherboard includes protection features such as an inrush limiter, Vb polarity protection, and EMI/ESD filtering for general protection. It interfaces with the radio module via a 20-pin header and provides connections for power (IN 6-30V, OUT 4.1V/1.7A/7W) and RS232 signals. Various SATEL radio modules can be placed on the motherboard, including SATEL-TR4+, SATEL-TR9, SATEL-TR489, and SATEL-TR300.

Content of SATEL-B2 MP1/MP2/MP3 Package

The package typically includes:

• MP1, MP2 assemblies: B2A motherboard (26-pin horizontal female connector)
• MP3 assembly: B2B motherboard (26-pin vertical male connector)
• Heat transfer block (ME0909)
• Heat transfer block (ME0910)
• Mounting screws (NC1030, 4 pcs)
• Radio module (defined by the order code)
• D15 adapter (KL0024, only in MP2 assembly)

How to Assemble Radio Module on SATEL-B2 Motherboard

Follow these steps to assemble a radio module onto the motherboard:

1. Peel off one plastic strip from the heat transfer block ME0909.
2. Align ME0909 with the mounting holes of the motherboard and press to adhere.
3. Peel off the remaining plastic strip of ME0909.
4. Snap the antenna cable connector to the u.FL connector of the radio module.
5. Carefully attach the radio module to the motherboard, aligning mounting holes and the 20-pin header. Gently press to secure with adhesive, avoiding pinching the antenna cable.
6. (Optional) For heat transfer block ME0910: Peel off the protective strip, align with mounting holes, and press gently. ME0910 can transfer heat to an external cooling structure.
7. Insert and tighten the four mounting screws (1.5 Nm torque).

The SATEL-B2 motherboard assembly must be connected to a power supply (+7...+27.5 VDC) with adequate current output. The power supply should provide current limiting against short circuits (fuse 1.5 A). Ensure all device power is OFF when installing cables.

SATEL-B2 MP1 (includes SATEL-B2A motherboard)

• Antenna cable connects to the female u-Fl connector of the radio module.
• External devices and power connect to the 26-PIN HORIZONTAL FEMALE HEADER CONNECTOR (bottom side, end of motherboard). Part type: Weitronic 613-26-20-10-2-10.

SATEL-B2 MP3 (includes SATEL-B2B motherboard)

• Antenna cable connects to the female u-Fl connector of the radio module.
• External devices and power connect to the 26-PIN VERTICAL MALE HEADER CONNECTOR (bottom side, end of motherboard). Part type: Samtec FTSH-113-04-L-DV-A-P-TR.

SATEL-B2 MP2 (Assembly with D15 Adapter)

• Antenna cable connects to the female u-Fl connector of the radio module.
• External devices and power connect to the accompanying D15 adapter (KL0024). The adapter must be installed correctly, aligning the slot with the edge of the motherboard.
