SmartGen SG485-3 Interface Expansion Module User Manual
SMARTGEN (ZHENGZHOU) TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD.
1 Overview
The SG485-3 is an expansion module for RS485 interfaces. It features three interfaces: one RS485 host interface and two RS485 slave interfaces (Slave 1 and Slave 2). This module can convert one RS485 interface into two RS485 interfaces, facilitating customers in monitoring and collecting data via the Modbus-RTU protocol.
2 Performance and Characteristics
Key characteristics of the SG485-3 module include:
- Equipped with a 32-bit ARM SCM for high hardware integration and improved reliability.
- Supports a DC (8~35)V continuous power supply.
- Features a 35mm guide rail installation method.
- Modular design with pluggable connection terminals for a compact structure and easy mounting.

5 Electrical Connection Diagram
This module is applied for the expansion of RS485 interface, which can convert 1# RS485 interface to 2# RS485 interface. Common connection examples are as follows:
Fig. 2 Electrical Connection Diagram: This diagram illustrates the connection of the SG485-3 module. A 'Controller' is connected to the RS485 HOST interface (B(-), A(+), TR). Two 'Monitoring Interface' units are connected to the RS485 SLAVE(1) and RS485 SLAVE(2) interfaces, respectively (B(-), A(+), TR). The diagram visually represents the module and its external connections.
