BluOS App User Guide

Control BluOS-enabled Players, browse music, create playlists, and group devices.

Home

The central area of the app, serving as the default starting point. Content is dynamic, based on user behavior and player activity.

  • 1 Settings: ⚙️ Press to open the Player Settings page.
  • 2 Highlights & Information: ? A place for BluOS to inform about new updates, changes to functionality, or introduction of new features.
  • 3 Most Used: ? Quick access to most used music services/inputs of each Player. Press on the big tile to jump directly into the specific service or input. Each tile has links for quick access to service/input specific content or settings.
  • 4 Presets: ⭐ Find and play presets for each Player. When no presets are made, a '+' icon provides access to the Preset setup menu. 'Show All' lists all presets and options to add, delete, or edit them.
  • 5 Recent Stations: ? Quick access to recently played stations. Only shown if a station has been played on the Player.
  • 6 Recently Played: ? Access and see recently played playlists, songs, and albums on each player across all available services.
  • 7 BluOS Playlists: ? When a BluOS playlist is created, it's found here. These differ from service-specific playlists as they can contain content from different services and local sources.
  • Note: It is possible to customize the order of these items. Press 'Customize Home' at the bottom of the page.
  • 8 Now Playing Control Bar: ▶️ Shows the currently playing content for the selected Player with quick access to play/pause and volume control. Pressing the volume icon accesses the volume slider. Pressing the minibar opens the Now Playing overview.
  • 9 Bottom Navigation Bar: ? Easy navigation for Home, Favourites, Music, Players, and Search

Now Playing

Displays details of the currently playing track and provides playback controls.

  • 1 Now Playing/Play Queue: ⏯️ Switch between the Now Playing and Play Queue windows.
  • 2 Player Name: Indicates the name of the Player. Press to access the Player page for quick and easy grouping management.
  • 3 Playback Quality Indicator: ? Shows the icon of the service or input playing, with a quality indicator. Press to change the view mode for more details about bit depth and sample rate.
  • 4 Context Menu: ⋮ Press the three dots for options like add as favourite, playlist, or preset. Options depend on content and service.
  • 5 Playback Controls: ▶️ ⏸️ ⏩ ⏪ Control playback like play/pause and skip forward/backward.

Music

Access all music services and inputs available on the Player. New music services can be added or removed here. Quick access for customization of inputs is also available.

Players

Manage Player volume, grouping, and audio settings.

  • 1 Fixed Groups and Add New Player: ? Use ⚙️ to create a Fixed Group (Stereo Pair, Multi Group, Home Theater Group). Fixed Groups allow multiple Players to function as one. Learn more. Use + to add a new Player to the system. Learn more.
  • 2 Follow Me: ➡️ Use to move the currently playing music to another Player/Room.
  • 3 Audio Settings: ? Access audio settings for the highlighted Player. Learn more.
  • 4 Group Icon: ? Use to group players together for simultaneous playback. Learn more.
  • 5 Control All Players: ?️?️ Option to group all Players with one press or pause playback on all Players.

Settings

Configure music services, inputs, and player-specific options.

General Settings

  • Alarms: Set alarms to wake up to music or radio stations. Can be used to simulate presence when away. Learn more.
  • Sleep Timer: Stop playback to fall asleep to music.

Audio Settings

  • Audio: Access Audio settings. Adjust Tone Controls, Listening Modes, or maximum volume for a Player. Learn more.

Player Settings

  • Player: Find all Player-specific settings. Customize inputs, add IR remote control for Playback and Presets, turn the Indicator Light On/Off, and more. Settings vary by Player. Learn more in the Owner's Manual.
  • Music Library: Set up your Local Library. BluOS can index libraries from network placements or USB drives connected to a Player. Learn more.

Playback Settings

  • Playback: Turn On/Off AutoFill. Autofill populates the Play Queue with remaining tracks from an Album or Playlist when a track is pressed.
  • Reload Artwork: Reloads iOS or Android device cache for Local Library content. Learn more.

Help & Support

  • Online Support: Access more than 200 FAQs about BluOS.
  • Send Support Request: Fill in required fields and select 'Send Request'. A diagnostic log is generated and sent with the request.

System Management

  • Upgrade: Check for updates to the BluOS firmware.
  • Add Player: Run the player setup wizard to add a new Player to the existing BluOS system. Learn more.
  • Diagnostics: View Player's wireless Signal Strength, Connected Shares, IP Address.
  • Reboot: Select to restart the Player.
  • Force Hotspot Mode: Reset the Bluesound Player to Hotspot mode. Learn more.
  • Statistics collection: Enable/disable passive reporting of Bluesound Players. Learn more.
  • Rebuild Index: Delete and recreate an index. Learn more.
  • About: View the version of the BluOS App, BluOS software, and License information.
