Setup of the smart double matrix

Take the already assembled smart double matrix record cleaning machine from its packaging. Set it on a stable and horizontal surface (such as a desk or rack).
Please note that due to the weight of the record cleaning machine, the feet of the device can cause marks on soft surfaces. Due to the warm air outlet on the bottom of the smart double matrix, the surface on which it rests should be heat resistant to a minimum of 60°C.

Insert the supplied funnel into the filling opening and fill the reservoir with the provided cleaning fluid (max. 0.2 l).
The included bottle matches the tank’s capacity and can therefore be used as a measuring bottle.
For thorough and gentle cleaning, we recommend using only our cleaning fluids (also available via www.analogshop.de).

Adjusting to the correct record size

By lifting the upper suction arm, you can swivel it to the left, thereby opening the cleaning and suction unit.
Thanks to individually adjustable regulators in the cleaning/suction arms, all record sizes can be cleaned without having to replace the arm.

To clean LPs (10“ and 12“), manually slide both regulators to the outer edge of the housing, so that the two holes in the center become visible.

To clean single records (7“), slide both regulators toward the center to prevent excessive fluid application.

Placing the record
Loosen the Smart Seal record clamp by turning the knurled screw counterclockwise and place the record to be cleaned onto the turntable.
Reattach the Smart Seal record clamp.

To properly secure the clamp and prevent the record from slipping during the cleaning process, we recommend pressing the clamp down firmly with one hand while tightening the knurled screw with the other.

Closing the cleaning and suction unit
Then swivel the upper cleaning element to the right to close the cleaning and suction unit.

Cleaning the Record

After properly securing the record and closing the cleaning and suction unit, activate the rotation by pressing the “Power” button.
Use the “Liquid” button to apply the desired amount of cleaning fluid to the record. We recommend one full rotation.

Let the record rotate for approximately 3–4 revolutions before pressing “TURN” to reverse the direction. Again, we recommend 3–4 revolutions in the opposite direction.
Now you can vacuum the record using the ‚Vacuum‘ button. We also recommend changing the direction several times to ensure complete drying of the record and the microfiber strips. Once the record appears visibly dry, turn off the suction using the ‚Vacuum‘ button.
Press “Power” and “TURN” to stop the rotation and return the device to its starting position for the next cleaning cycle.

The cleaning process generates electrostatic charges, which can be clearly heard during playback. Therefore, we recommend using the anti-static unit (see accessories) immediately after cleaning.
To do this, connect the separate anti-static unit to the grounding port on the back of the device.
Open the cleaning and suction unit and start the rotation by pressing “Power”.

Hold the brush gently over the record without applying pressure. One rotation per side is sufficient to discharge the static electricity.

Replacing the microfiber covers
We recommend replacing the microfiber strips after approximately 100 cleaning cycles, depending on usage and the level of record contamination.

To replace the microfiber strips, the cleaning and suction unit must be disassembled.
Keep the unit closed and first disconnect the two hoses.

Then, using a #5 hex key, loosen (but do not remove) the rear screw on each arm and pull the arms upward. The spring remains on the suction nozzle.
On the front side of the cleaning arms, there is a small plate secured with two screws. Remove this cover using a #1.3 hex key. You can then pull out the microfiber holder.
Now you can remove the old microfiber covers and replace them with new ones. Before attaching the new microfiber strips, it is essential to thoroughly clean the microfiber holders of any grease, dust, or adhesive residue. When applying the new microfiber strips, make sure to press them firmly onto the holder.

You can now reassemble and reinstall the arms in reverse order. When reinserting the microfiber holders, ensure that the two buttons inside the arm are not bent. Gently press them inward with your finger to slide the holder back in, and reattach the cover plate to the front side.
Place the lower cleaning arm back onto the spring and align it centrally with the clamp. If the arm is correctly positioned, the locking screw will fit perfectly into the groove of the suction nozzle.
Once the lower arm is securely fastened, position the upper unit parallel to the lower one and also tighten the locking screw.

Finally, reconnect the two hoses: shorter hose = lower cleaning arm / longer hose = upper cleaning arm.

Cleaning and emptying the waste fluid container
It’s best to empty the waste container as soon as the supply container is used up.
Residue can accumulate in the waste container over time, potentially clumping and clogging the drain opening. To prevent this, we recommend occasional cleaning of the container.

Carefully and evenly pull the upper suction arm upward by its head after loosening the screw. Place the funnel onto the suction pipe and pour in rinsing fluid.
For cleaning the waste container, we recommend rinsing with approximately 200 ml of warm water. After about 20 minutes of soaking, you can drain the rinsing fluid through the drain hose by placing its open end into a lower-positioned collection vessel. Repeat this process until the rinsing fluid shows no visible contamination.
Once cleaning is complete, you can reassemble the suction arm. Make sure to insert it straight and without applying force, as misalignment could damage the machine.

Before restarting the machine, the drain hose must always be sealed with the stopper to allow the vacuum pump to generate the necessary suction pressure. This is the only way to ensure consistent and complete functionality. The drain hose must not be pushed back into the machine from the rear. This could cause it to kink, blocking the drainage of the dirty cleaning fluid. Additionally, the leaking fluid could damage the interior of the machine.

Cleaning fluid reservoir:
The reservoir has a capacity of approximately 0.2 liters. Fill the reservoir only with Clearaudio cleaning fluid (also available at www.analogshop.de) to ensure optimal cleaning results.

We recommend having a second person assist with this process.
