The camera includes several components such as the antenna, lens, IR LED, LED indicator, power button, menu, SIM card slot, display screen, SD card slot, pyroelectric infrared sensor, USB port, microphone hole, DC in jack, and latch. Ensure to load the battery properly.

Camera Setup

  1. Screw on and tighten the antenna. Insert the KLARVUE SD Card.
  2. Loosen the latch to open the camera, press the eject button at the bottom right of the camera. Fill tray with 12 new AA batteries.
  3. Toggle the power button to “SETUP”.
  4. Download the “KLARVUE” app on App Store or Google Play.
  5. Once downloaded, create an account and follow the in-app instructions to activate your camera.
  6. Once the camera is activated, utilize the display’s live view to position your camera. Then, toggle the power button to “ON”.
  7. The camera will now automatically take pictures or videos as per the settings, and the files will be sent directly to your APP.

Camera Modes

  • OFF: Sensors off, display off. Suitable for replacing SD card/battery, connecting device through USB, or when the camera is not in use.
  • SETUP: Sensors off, display on. Use the display to activate the camera, view gallery, live view/aim, and change settings.
  • ON: Sensors on, display off. Camera will automatically detect motion and capture photos or videos, as per camera settings.

Display Icons & Key Controls

The display shows image resolution, cell signal, number of photos taken, SD card status, audio recording, video resolution, available video recording time, video mode, time lapse, and battery level.

In Live View (Start-up Screen)

  • Press the up arrow once to switch to video mode.
  • Press the down arrow once to switch to photo mode.
  • Press the left or right arrow once to take a picture.
  • Press “OK” once to enter the gallery.
  • Press “M” once to enter the settings menu.

In the Settings Menu

  • Use the arrow keys to scroll between different settings.
  • Press “OK” once to enter or confirm a setting.
  • Press “M” once to return to live view or cancel a setting.

In Gallery

  • Use the up-down arrows to scroll through photos and videos.
  • For videos only, press the right arrow once to play or pause the video.
  • Press “M” to delete a file. Confirm by pressing “OK”.

Camera Settings

Home

  • Shot Mode: Choose whether you want the camera to take photos only, videos only, or both photos and videos (takes more memory space).
  • Image Quality: Choose the resolution for each image. A higher quality image will take more memory space.
  • Photo Burst: Choose how many photos to capture when the camera is triggered.
  • Video Quality: Choose the resolution for each video. A higher quality video will take more memory space.
  • Video Length: Choose how long the camera records a single video (5s to 60s).
  • Loop Recording: New photo/video will automatically replace the oldest file in the SD card, preventing the camera from stopping recording when SD card is full.

Camera

  • Night Mode: Choose the flash range depending on the target you want to capture.
  • PIR Interval: After the camera is triggered once, how long the camera waits before you want the camera to trigger again.
  • PIR Sensitivity: Choose the camera range. Higher sensitivity allows further range of detection, but will increase the occurrence of false triggers.
  • Operating Hours: Choose a specific timeframe for the camera to be active. Off: 24/7; On: Set up to 2 timeframes.
  • Time Lapse: Turn on to take photos continuously under the set timeframe and time interval. When time lapse is on, PIR sensor will stop working.

Cellular

  • Cellular: Default is on. When the cellular is off, the camera will stop receiving signals.
  • Upload Frequency: (When Cellular is on) Choose how often photos/videos are uploaded to your phone. Higher frequency drains more battery and cellular data.
  • On Demand: Enables the camera to take photos on demand in your APP.
  • Registration: Display the QR code for camera activation.

System

  • Language: Choose the system language.
  • Camera Name: Give your camera a name to be displayed on the data stamp.
  • Password: Set a 4-digit password to prevent others from sabotaging your camera.
  • Time Format: Choose between the 12-hour or 24-hour time format.
  • Date/Time: Set the date and time of the camera.
  • Date Stamp: Choose whether to include a date stamp at the bottom of every image.
  • Format SD Card: Erase all data in the SD card.
  • Factory Reset: Restore all settings to the original state.
  • Version: Display the camera’s firmware version and MCU version.

Helpful Tips

General

  1. To maximize battery life, limit the upload frequency to every 3 hours or longer, and a PIR interval of 10 seconds or longer. Use lithium batteries during winter.
  2. Before replacing the batteries or SD card, toggle the camera to “OFF” mode.
  3. When using an external power supply, make sure that the voltage is 12V.
  4. DO NOT replace the pre-installed SIM card.
  5. DO NOT submerge the camera in water.
  6. DO NOT mix battery types or use rechargeable batteries.
  7. Indicator Color:
    • Green: Firmware updating
    • Red: The camera is turned on and ready for operation
    • Blue: Low battery

Mounting

  1. Avoid mounting the camera on unstable trees or posts.
  2. Avoid facing the camera toward the sun; face the camera north or south.
  3. Mount the camera 3-5 feet above ground and 20-30 feet from your target.
  4. Clear any brush and tree limbs in the field of view to prevent false triggering.
