Updating the Alpha Base Mk II OS via SD card:
- Download the required file AlphaMk2.bin and copy it to the root
directory of the SD card. - Insert the SD card into the Alpha Base Mk II and press (DISK)
to initiate the update process. - Navigate to load the OS system file AlphaMk2.bin and press
(Enter). - Confirm the update when prompted and wait for the programming

Updating the Alpha Base Mk II OS via SD card
1. Download the most recent file ,,AlphaMk2.bin” at https://www.jomox.de/upload/updates/AlphaMk2.bin to your computer. You can also find the file in the product area of the website if you scroll down to the update files. Copy this file to the root directory of the SD card.
2. Insert the SD card to the Alpha Base Mk II. Press (DISK). The display shows:

If the disk does not open at first, take out the SD card , push it in again and try again. Sometimes the unit has to warm up a bit to read the SD card properly. With every try first take out the card and push it in again.
3. Go right with the cursor until the display shows:

4. Now press (Enter). The display shows:

5. Now press (Enter) again. The updating process starts and the system file gets copied to flash memory. During this process, you MUST NOT turn off the Alpha Base Mk II! After a few seconds the display reads:

6. Now please turn the Alpha Base Mk II off and on again and see the new version number in the display. Please note that, after updating, the global settings like preset no. are reset to default. Pressing STO KIT writes the actual global settings to permament memory again. That’s it.

1. The Alpha Base MkII has a separate panel board CPU that performs the scanning of encoders and buttons, processes the RGB LEDs and the OLED graphics display. The step LEDs light up in violet indicating the blocks that count up. After a couple of seconds, the red LEDs start flashing and the actual updating takes place:

During this process, you MUST NOT turn off the Alpha Base Mk II!
6. Now the display shows
Panel Board CPU ver 1x
You can press e.g. KIT/SEQ now and the normal display will appear. You can continue to work with the Alpha Base MkII now without rebooting. That was it.
NOTE: If, for some reason, the internal transmission failed and for instance this error message appears:

Don’t worry, just turn off and on the machine and do the Front Panel OS updating again.
