Product Description
The MVi-HUB is an accessory designed to provide network connectivity for up to six MVi amplifiers in a multi-amp system. Networking greatly simplifies the configuration process by permitting the setup and/or tuning of all amplifiers using a single TüN*™ project file. (See What is TüN? section for more info.) Additionally, networking synchronizes DSP presets of all amplifiers and distributes commands from a single Digital Remote Controller (DRC) across the entire amplifier network. The MVi-HUB includes JLid-COMM ports to connect up to six amplifiers (one “Master” MVi amplifier and up to five “Slave” MV or MVi amplifiers). Power for the MVi-HUB is provided by the connected amplifiers. Note: a “Master” MVi amplifier connection is required for MVi-HUB operation. The MVi-HUB utilizes a proprietary JLid™™ communication protocol via standard CAT5e network cables (not included). Use only CAT 5e type network cables and keep cable lengths as short as possible for optimum performance. Audio signals are NOT transmitted via JLid-COMM connections. The MVi-HUB has a dedicated JLid-CTRL port for the connection of a compatible accessory (sold separately). Refer to the JLid- CTRL Port section on the next page for additional info.
Mounting Considerations
The MVi-HUB is equipped with keyhole-style mounting holes to simplify installations in confined spaces or vertical-mount applications. Mounting screws may be preinstalled, allowing connections to be made prior to securing in its final location. See diagram at right. When selecting the installation location, consider the mounting orientation of the MVi-HUB and its associated connections. If possible, position the MVi-HUB vertically, with all connections pointing downward. Wiring and cables should be routed to direct potential condensation and moisture away from its chassis. When installed in this manner, the MVi-HUB achieves an IPX2 water-resistance rating.
JLid-COMM Amplifier Port Connections
The MVi-HUB is equipped with one “Master” and five numbered JLid-COMM ports to connect to the JLid-COMM ports on MV and MVi amplifiers. All JLid-COMM connections are made using standard CATSe network cables (not included). For optimum performance, use only CATSe-type network cables and keep cable lengths as short as possible. Refer to the table below for connection info. When selecting the “Master” amplifier, keep in mind that the USB port on the “Master” amplifier is the connection point for the PC or Mac® used to set up and tune the amplifiers in the network, using TüN™ software.
Amp Identifier and Status LEDs
Each JLid-COMM amplifier port is outfitted with a status LED that will illuminate solid blue when connected to an amplifier. Pressing an Amp Identifier button on the MVi-HUB will change its status LED to white and cause the top LED on the connected amplifier to flash white. This functionality is useful for identifying specific amplifiers after installation.
Control Source and Status LEDs
Press the Control Source button to toggle between optional control methods. Refer to the table below for connection info.
NMEA 2000° Connection
Currently not used, this connection is intended for future NMEA® 2000 control options (TBA).
JLid-CTRL Port
The JLid-CTRL Port allows the connection of an optional control accessory (sold separately). Refer to the table below for compatible accessories. For additional information, refer to the documentation included with each accessory.
USB Port
The USB Port allows connection of a PC for future firmware updates to the MVi-HUB using a standard USB A/B cable (not included).
Note: For TüN™ configuration using a PC or Mac®, connect your computer to the USB Port of the “Master” MVi amplifier only.
Reset Buttons
Use a small pin to perform the following:
- (A) Factory Reset (wipe memory, reboot MVi-HUB) – Press and hold Button A for 7 seconds. All user settings will be erased and the MVi-HUB will revert to its factory settings!
- (B) Reboot MVi-HUB – Press and release Button B to restart the MVi-HUB. Previous user settings will be retained.
APPENDIX A: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- “Do I still need to send audio input signals to my amplifiers?”
- Yes, audio input signals connections are required for each amplifier.
- “Where do I connect my USB A/B cable for TüN” configuration?”
- Compatible computers running TÜN™ software should connect to the USB Port of the Master MVi amplifier only.
- “Where do I connect my DRC controller?”
- Compatible DRC remote controllers should be connected to the JLid-CTRL Port of the MVi-HUB.
- “Why isn’t my DRC controller working?”
- Make sure JLid-CTRL has been selected using the Control Source button of the MVi-HUB.

Warranty
Limited Warranty – Electronics (USA)
JL Audio warrants this product to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two (2) years from the original date of purchase. This warranty is not transferrable and applies only to the original purchaser from an authorized JL Audio dealer. Should service be necessary under this warranty for any reason due to manufacturing defect or malfunction, JL Audio will (at its discretion), repair or replace the defective product with new or remanufactured product at no charge. Damage caused by the following is not covered under warranty: accident, misuse, \abuse, product modification or neglect, failure to follow installation instructions, unauthorized repair attempts, and misrepresentations by the seller. This warranty does not cover incidental or consequential damages and does not cover the cost of removing or reinstalling the unit(s). Cosmetic damage due to accident or normal wear and tear is not covered under warranty. Products installed as original equipment by boat manufacturers are covered by the boat manufacturer’s warranty, not JL Audio, Inc.
The warranty is void if the product’s serial number has been removed or defaced.
Any applicable implied warranties are limited in duration to the period of the express warranty as provided herein beginning with the date of the original purchase at retail, and no warranties, whether express or implied, shall apply to this product thereafter. Some states do not allow limitations on implied warranties, therefore these exclusions may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state.
If you need service on your JL AUDIO product:
All warranty returns should be sent to JL Audio’s Amplifier Service Facility freight-prepaid through an authorized JL Audio dealer and must be accompanied by proof of purchase (a copy of the original sales receipt). Direct returns from consumers or non-authorized dealers will be refused unless specifically authorized by JL Audio with a valid return authorization number. Warranty expiration on products returned without proof of purchase will be determined from the manufacturing date code. Coverage may be invalidated as this date is previous to the purchase date. Non-defective items received will be returned freight-collect. The customer is responsible for shipping charges and insurance in sending the product to JL Audio. Freight damage on returns is not covered under warranty.

Planning Your Installation
It is important that you take the time to read this manual thoroughly and that you plan your installation \carefully. It is very easy to damage electrical systems in modern vessels. Never assume that you have found appropriate wires without consulting a reliable wiring diagram or without using proper test equipment. If you are uncomfortable or unfamiliar with diagrams or testing methods, please enlist the services of your authorized JL Audio dealer to perform the installation. Your authorized dealer has the training, expertise and installation equipment to ensure optimum performance from this product. If you have any questions regarding the instructions in this manual or any aspect of your amplifier’s operation, please contact your authorized JL Audio dealer for assistance. Safety Considerations
- Install this product in a dry, well-ventilated location that does not interfere with factory-installed systems.
- This product should never be submerged under water or subjected to high-pressure water spray.
- Do not install where it will be directly exposed to the elements, or in the engine compartment, or in any areas of extreme heat. Areas exposed to a heater or hot air should also be avoided.
- When selecting a mounting location, consider the orientation of the chassis and its associated connections. When possible, route wiring and cables to direct condensation and moisture away from the amplifier.
- Securely mount this product so that it does not come loose in the event of a collision or sudden jolt, or as a result of repeated vibrations during normal operation.
- Check before drilling to make sure that you will not be drilling into an exterior panel/hull, fuel tank, fuel line, wiring harness, or other vital system.
- Do not run system wiring outside or underneath the vessel. This is an extremely dangerous practice, which can result in severe damage/injury.
- Protect all system wires from sharp edges by carefully routing them, tying them down and using grommets and loom, where appropriate.
- Secure all wiring as needed, using cable ties or wire clamps to protect them from moving parts and sharp edges.
