2. Safety Instructions

Read all safety instructions carefully before installing or operating the battery. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, serious injury, or death.

  • Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and insulated gloves, when handling batteries.
  • Do not short-circuit the battery terminals.
  • Do not expose the battery to fire, excessive heat, or direct sunlight.
  • Do not immerse the battery in water or other liquids.
  • Ensure proper ventilation when charging or discharging the battery.
  • Keep the battery away from children and pets.
  • Use only compatible chargers and components.
  • Do not disassemble, puncture, or modify the battery.
  • In case of fire, use a Class D fire extinguisher (for metal fires) or a large amount of water.
  • Dispose of the battery according to local regulations.

3. Setup

Unpacking and Initial Inspection

  1. Carefully remove the battery from its packaging.
  2. Inspect the battery for any visible damage, such as cracks, dents, or swelling. Do not use the battery if it appears damaged.
  3. Verify that all included accessories are present.

Connecting the Battery

The VEVOR 24V 200Ah LiFePO4 battery supports parallel and series connections for increased capacity or voltage. Always ensure all batteries are at a similar state of charge before connecting them in parallel or series.

  • Parallel Connection (Up to 2P): Connect positive terminals together and negative terminals together to increase capacity (e.g., two 24V 200Ah batteries in parallel create a 24V 400Ah system).
  • Series Connection (Up to 2S): Connect the positive terminal of one battery to the negative terminal of another to increase voltage (e.g., two 24V 200Ah batteries in series create a 48V 200Ah system).
  • Parallel and Series (Up to 2P2S): Combine both methods for higher voltage and capacity (e.g., four 24V 200Ah batteries in a 2P2S configuration create a 48V 400Ah system).
  • Use appropriate cables and connectors rated for the expected current.
  • Ensure all connections are tight and secure to prevent arcing and overheating.

4. Operating Instructions

General Operation

  • Ensure the battery is securely mounted in a well-ventilated area.
  • Monitor battery voltage and current during operation, especially when connecting to sensitive electronics.
  • Avoid deep discharges whenever possible to maximize battery lifespan, although the BMS provides protection.

Battery Management System (BMS)

The integrated 100A BMS provides critical protection features to ensure safe and reliable operation:

  • Overcharge Protection: Prevents the battery from being charged beyond its safe voltage limit.
  • Overcurrent Protection: Shuts off the battery if the discharge current exceeds safe limits.
  • Short Circuit Protection: Automatically disconnects the battery in case of a short circuit.
  • High Temperature Protection: Disables charging/discharging if the internal temperature becomes too high.
  • Low Temperature Protection: Prevents charging at temperatures below freezing to protect cell integrity.
Smart BMS Protection Features

Operating Environment

For optimal performance and longevity, operate the battery within the following temperature ranges:

  • Charging Temperature: 23°F to 131°F (-5°C to 55°C)
  • Discharging Temperature: -4°F to 149°F (-20°C to 65°C)
  • Operating Temperature: -4°F to 113°F (-20°C to 45°C)

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your VEVOR LiFePO4 battery.

  • Regular Inspection: Periodically check the battery terminals for corrosion or loose connections. Clean terminals with a wire brush if necessary and ensure they are tightened.
  • Cleaning: Keep the battery surface clean and dry. Use a damp cloth to wipe off dust or dirt. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.
  • Storage: If storing the battery for an extended period, ensure it is charged to approximately 50-70% capacity. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Recharge every 3-6 months to prevent self-discharge.
  • Avoid Over-Discharge: While the BMS provides protection, consistently discharging the battery to its absolute minimum can reduce overall lifespan.

6. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your battery.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Battery not chargingCharger not connected, faulty charger, BMS protection activated (over-discharge, low temp)Check charger connection and functionality. Ensure ambient temperature is within charging range. If BMS is active, disconnect load and allow battery to recover.
Battery not discharging (no power output)Load too high (overcurrent), BMS protection activated (over-discharge, high temp, short circuit), loose connectionsReduce load. Check for short circuits. Ensure ambient temperature is within discharging range. Verify all cable connections are secure.
Reduced capacity or runtimeBattery not fully charged, aging battery, extreme operating temperatures, high parasitic loadsEnsure battery is fully charged before use. Operate within recommended temperature ranges. Check for any unnecessary power draws.
Battery feels hot during operationExcessive load, poor ventilation, high ambient temperatureReduce load. Ensure adequate airflow around the battery. Move battery to a cooler environment if possible. The BMS will shut down if temperature limits are exceeded.
