IPVIDEO-HALO-Smart-Sensor-PRODUCT

Introduction

The HALO Smart Sensor is an intelligent device that monitors its environment. It can be used in various locations, including areas where privacy is a concern and security cameras aren’t appropriate.

Managing Your HALO Sensors with the HALO Device

Manager
The HALO Device Manager (HDM) helps you configure and manage your HALO Smart Sensors on your network. HDM enables you to:

  • discover HALO sensors on your network
  • install and update firmware
  • apply configuration changes
  • back up device settings
  • view device status

If you need to manage multiple sites and generate detailed reports, explore the HALO Cloud Portal:
https://halodetect.com/product-info/halo-cloud

Setting up HDM

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure:

  1. HDM has been installed:
    1. Download HDM from the IPVideo website: https://halodetect.com/resources/halo-firmware/
    2. Run the installation file.
    3. Open HDM by double-clicking the HALO Device Manager icon.
    4. Accept the End User License Agreement (EULA).
  2. One or more HALO Smart Sensors are connected to a standard office network.
  3. You have followed the HALO Installation Procedure and verified each device is working and properly connected.

Network Requirements
Ideally, your network should have a DHCP server to automatically assign IP addresses to your HALO sensors.
If a DHCP server isn’t available, HDM can locate HALO sensors using APIPA (Automatic Private IP Addressing) on a local network.
If you’re using static IP addresses, you’ll need the:

  1. subnet mask
  2. gateway address
  3. DNS address

Computer
A Windows 10 (or newer) PC connected to the same network, with the Chrome web browser installed.

Finding Your HALO Smart Sensors

  1. Open HDM by double-clicking the HALO Device Manager icon. The window can be resized and moved as needed; your settings will be saved for future use.
  2. Search for HALO sensors by:
    1. Device Scan, to search searches the same network your PC is connected to.
    2. IP Scan, to search a custom range of IP addresses on your local network. This is useful for searching specific parts of your network.
    3. IPv6 Scan, to search for devices using IPv6 addresses on your local network.

Finding and Managing Your HALO Sensors

The Devices menu helps you find and manage the HALO Smart Sensors on your network.

IPVIDEO-HALO-Smart-Sensor-FUG-15

To search for HALO sensors on your network, use:

  • Device Scan. This is the quickest way to find HALOs on your local network. It doesn’t search across different subnets and returns IPv4 addresses.
  • IP Scan. This enables you to search a specific range of IP addresses. You need to provide the starting IP address and the number of addresses to scan. This method can search across different parts of your network, so it’s best to specify only the range you need.
  • IPv6 Scan. This scan is similar to the Device Scan, but it searches for HALOs using IPv6 addresses.

To search for a single device:

  1. Click Devices > Add Device.IPVIDEO-HALO-Smart-Sensor-FUG-15
  2. In the dialog box, enter the IP address, port number, and user credentials (if the HALO isn’t using the default settings).
