Step 02 | Installation

Prep

Before starting, prepare the surface by filling holes, removing old wallpaper, and repainting if necessary. Painting the wall a color similar to the wallpaper's base color is recommended. Remove switches and other objects, ensuring power is turned off.

Decide Where to Start

Begin wallpapering at a window or corner. Check the wallpaper label for its width (typically 53 cm for traditional wallpaper). Measure and mark this width on the wall from your starting point.

Paste the Wall

Inspect wallpaper rolls for damage. Brooke & Lou wallpapers are non-woven, allowing paste to be applied directly to the wall. Use a brush for edges and corners, and a roller for larger surfaces. Paste an area suitable for one and a half lengths at a time. Remove any paste on moldings with a damp sponge.

Hang Your First Strip

Use the wallpaper box as a tray. Pull the wallpaper up towards the ceiling, attaching it lightly at the top, ensuring it hangs straight. Use a wallpaper tool to smooth out bubbles, working from the center outwards. The material is durable; avoid forcing it. Cut excess along the floor. Wipe off any residue paste with a damp sponge, using plenty of water but without rubbing the wallpaper. Cut the length at the coving.

Wallpaper Around Corners

When approaching a corner, measure the distance from the previous length to the corner, adding about 2 cm. Measure in three places and cut the length based on the longest measurement. Paste the corner with a brush, ensuring pattern matching. Fold the length around the corner. Use the next length, placing it close to the edge against the previous one. Small overlaps may occur on uneven corners; ensure the next length is placed straight.

Wallpaper Around Windows

At a window, cut the length at the window's edge. Locate the top corner of the window and cut a 45-degree angle from the corner to the wallpaper edge. Remove excess wallpaper and trim at the window edge.

Wallpaper Around Switches

Turn off the power and remove switch/socket covers. Place wallpaper over the switch and carefully cut out the hole. Measure accurately to avoid cutting too much. Replace the socket cover after wallpapering.

After finishing, leave the room open for at least 24 hours to allow it to dry properly.
