VGATE 4.0 iCAR Pro Bluetooth

Introduction

• How do I know if a vehicle is OBDII compatible?
  A 1996 or later vehicle sold in the United States. United States law requires all passenger and light truck models manufactured in the 1996 or later model year (MY) to be OBD2 compliant. 2001 or later gasoline vehicles
  year of manufacture sold in the European Union. Diesel vehicles of the year of manufacture 2004 or later sold in the European Union.

1. Install the OBDII app on your Pad phone
   1. Download the OBD II app and install it (iOS). Download third-party apps from the online store.The app developer has tested and recommended iCar Pro BLE4.0
   2. Download the OBD II app and install it (Android). Torque Lite (most popular, Lite version free)
      OBD Auto Doctor (excellent app, upgrade to Pro in) ODB Fusion (excellent third-party app)
2. Connect the iCar Pro BLE4.0 adapter to the DLC (OBDII Diagnostic Link Connector)
   The OBDII DLC is usually located under the dash on the driver’s side. More information at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Data_link_connector_(automotive)
3. Turn the vehicle ignition to the On position, engine off Red LED: power on, light turns on Green LED: OBD, the light will flash Blue LED: Bluetooth indicator, off

Function

OBD auto wake-up and power saving Allow the user to leave the iCar Pro in the OBD socket without having to unplug and plug it in. Super low power consumption (sleep mode), 2.7 mA. Auto wake-up function to turn on iCar Pro every time you start with the key in the engine off position (KOEO position). The device wake-up speed is fast at the “ms” level. Allow the user to start the diagnostic operation faster.

Troubleshooting

LED light is not on: Check the vehicle fuses. The adapter is installed incorrectly. Remove it from the DLC port and reinstall it.

How to pair iCar Pro BLE 4.0 with your device (use OBD Auto Doctor)

Step 1

Enable Bluetooth on your mobile phone. Don’t see your device name in the Bluetooth list? Your device requires a Bluetooth device name configuration in the OBD app settings. Enable Bluetooth on your iOS device and proceed to OBD app settings (step 2). Only profiles supported by iOS can be displayed. Bluetooth LE 4.0 is not supported by iOS. Therefore, the device cannot be found.

Step 2
Configure connection settings on OBD Auto Doctor

1. Launch the OBD Auto Doctor application.
2. Press the extra button on the Status page.
3. Press in the Connectivity menu and select a connection type.
4. Select the Bluetooth adapter type.
5. Select the Vgate device.
6. Go back to the Status page and press the connection button.
7. Plug in the adapter and connect to the vehicle. The Bluetooth indicator (blue) and ODB indicator (green) flash during connection (about 30 seconds).
8. After connection, all LED indicators are on, data synchronization is taking place.

Important notice
Different OBD applications have different Bluetooth settings. Please follow the steps according to your current OBD model.

Pairing iCar Pro BLE4.0 with an iOS device

Step 1

1. Enable Bluetooth on your mobile phone or tablet.
2. Turn on Bluetooth. Enable visibility.
3. Select the device name “Android-Vlink”, enter the password: 1234 and connect.
4. Pairing is complete.

Step 2

Configure connection settings on OBD Auto Doctor

1. Launch the OBD Auto Doctor application.
2. Press the extra button on the Status page.
3. Press in the Connectivity menu and select a connection type.
4. Select the Bluetooth adapter type.
5. Search for the device.
6. Select the “Android-Vlink” device.
7. Go back to the Status page and press the connection button.
8. Plug in the adapter and connect to the vehicle. The Bluetooth indicator (blue) and ODB indicator (green) flash during connection (about 30 seconds).
9. After connection, all LED indicators are on, data synchronization is taking place.

What parameters and sensors does iCar Pro BLE4.0 support?

iCar Pro BLE4.0 supports standard OBDII parameters (PID) defined in SAE J1979 AUG2014 (OBD AUTO DOCTOR application). The current list of available parameters is vehicle specific. Your vehicle must have these sensors to work with the application. Different OBDII applications may support different list of parameters and sensors. Throttle Position Sensor/High Input Circuit Switch P0123 0-General OBD code
1-Fuel and air measurement 2 and 3-Error description If the PCM detects a voltage higher than the normal upper limit, P0123 will set. More at http://www.obd-codes.com/p0123
