Frequently Asked Questions
The virtual 7.1 surround sound is supported through the USB sound card only when used on a computer. The Cloud II is officially supported with the PS4 using the 3.5mm audio jack plugged into the controller. It can be used with the USB sound card but as the PS4 does not have the drivers to run the sound card it will only support pass-through sound. When used that way the 7.1, volume, and mic control buttons are disabled; only the mic mute switch on the side will work.
HyperX Cloud Flight automatically stops charging when the battery reaches a full charge, even with the charging cable attached. Our internal testing has shown no evidence of battery degradation with the charging cable connected for extended periods of time. Cloud Flight can function for up to 30 hours (with headset LED lights turned off) on a full charge, not 50 hours.
Mostly these are made of aluminum and faux leather. The plastic clip that holds the earpiece to the band breaks after 4 months.
Yes, the Cloud Alpha is stereo, but I highly recommend that you try pairing the USB Dolby 7.1 Adapter with it for USB connectivity and Virtual Surround Sound for an amazing audio experience.
The Cloud II comes with basically all the same accessories except for a few differences. As the Cloud II has a single 3.5mm connector, the 1-meter extension cable is for the single 3.5mm connector and there is no Y-cable included for mobile devices since it is not needed. And the Cloud II like the original Cloud comes with interchangeable leatherette and velour ear pads.
When connected to a computer you can enable mic monitoring or select to “listen to” the mic in the audio options so that you hear yourself through the mic on the headphones. In other devices, like gaming consoles, cell phones or tablets, that do not have advanced audio options this would not be available.
Sorry but Kingston is wrong about the Flights working on the Xbox One. You can use the included 3.5mm cable and ug into your controller or headset adapter. You do lose chat functionality and control 9f the volume wheel however. Or you can do what I did and have full chat on the Xbox One. I used the V-Moda Boompro microphone and plugged that into where the 3.5mm cable goes. Now I have crystal clear chat and full use of the Flights on my Xbox One. Also the headset is much louder than when it is used wirelessly.
Yes, the USB connector is all that is needed to connect the headset to the PC. You attach the headset to to the USB dongle with the 3.5mm jack, and then the dongle to the PC via USB. This allows you to use the built in sound card and 7.1 surround when connected to the PC. The 3.5mm jack is mainly meant to be used when using the headset with a mobile device or with the PS4. I came from the Turtle Beach x12 headset where I needed a USB port, AND audio/mic jack. But with the HyperX Could II, you only need the USB port.
The HyperX Cloud Mix does support aptX-LL.
The Cloud Alpha ear cups are designed to be slightly expanded than those of Cloud II and will not fit older Cloud models’ ear pads.
Not as of about two weeks ago when I called customer support. They sent me a free adaptor cable to plug straight into my motherboard and mouse pad to hold me over until they have a fix. But honestly, the crackling is barely noticeable and hardly ever happens, I would still be happy with this headset even if they never find a fix.
HyperX Cloud MIX is intended to function as a pair wired gaming headset on PC, PS4, Xbox One and etc. Cloud MIX works well as a Bluetooth headset on smartphones and tables. It is recommended to use Cloud MIX in Bluetooth mode only for audio playback on PC due to Windows Bluetooth audio quality and bandwidth limitations. Attach a separate microphone to the PC as the primary audio input device when using Cloud MIX in Bluetooth mode on the same PC.
