Getting Started

What's in the Box

Ensure your Polaroid Now box contains:

  • Polaroid Now Camera
  • Quick Start Guide
  • Camera Wrist Strap
  • Safety & Compliance booklet

Charging Your Camera

The camera is not fully charged upon arrival. Use a standard USB-C charger (5V/1A) for charging. Charging via a laptop is not recommended. The battery level indicator LED blinks during charging and turns off when fully charged. A full charge takes approximately 2 hours and provides power for about 15 film packs. Turn off the camera after use to conserve battery.

Battery Level Indicator LED (Unplugged):

  • No Light: Camera is off
  • Green: Charged (Enough for 15 packs of film)
  • Orange: Medium battery (Enough for 1 pack of film)
  • Red: Low battery

Battery Level Indicator LED (While plugged):

  • No Light: Camera is fully charged
  • Green: Charging, battery almost full
  • Orange: Charging, battery is half full
  • Red: Charging, battery is low

Attach Your Wrist Strap

Attach the included wrist strap for secure handling.

Find Your Instant Film

The Polaroid Now uses i-Type and 600 instant film. Choose from color, black and white, or special edition frames.

How To Take Your First Photo

1. Turn On the Camera

Press the ON | OFF button for approximately 1.5 seconds. The film counter will display '0' if no film is loaded.

2. Insert Your Film Pack

Open the film door using the button. Insert the film pack with the darkslide facing up and the tab towards you. Close the door. The darkslide will eject; allow the film shield to retract. Do not remove the shield. If the darkslide doesn't eject, re-insert the film pack securely. For best results, use i-Type film and finish each pack before inserting a new one to avoid wasting a shot.

3. Set the Flash Mode

The flash triggers by default in low light. For shots without flash, press the flash button once. The flash will re-enable after the shot. Double-press the flash button to disable it until the camera is powered off.

4. Position Yourself

Maintain a distance of at least 55cm (1.8ft) from your subject.

5. Aim at Your Subject

Use the viewfinder located on the left of the lens barrel to compose your shot.

6. Press the Shutter Button

Press the shutter button to take the photo. The photo will eject immediately and be covered by a protective film shield.

7. Remove the Photo

Gently lift the film shield to allow it to retract into the camera. Remove the photo and place it face down to protect it while developing. Do not shake the photo. Refer to the film packet for developing times.

8. Turn the Camera Off

Press and hold the ON | OFF button for approximately 1.5 seconds to power down the camera.

Composition and Framing

Shooting Tips

For bright, clear pictures without shadows, keep the camera steady. Holding it with both hands and resting elbows on a table can help.

Framing

The viewfinder may not perfectly match the final image. For subjects closer than 1.2m (3.93ft), adjust your aim slightly up and to the left.

Composition Adjustment

You can adjust composition after focusing. Half-press the shutter button to lock focus, recompose, then fully press to take the photo.

Special Features

Self-Timer

Tap the self-timer button once. The LED turns orange. Frame your shot and press the shutter button. The orange LED blinks during the 9-second countdown. To use without flash, activate the self-timer, then press the flash button. Cancel by pressing the self-timer button again.

Double Exposure

Press the self-timer button twice to enable double exposure. The display shows '1' for the first shot and '2' for the second. This allows combining two images in one photo.

Flash Control

Double-tap the flash button to disable flash until the camera is powered off.

Exposure Compensation (Trim EV)

Adjust brightness for specific lighting conditions. Hold the flash button for one second to enter Trim EV mode. Tap the flash button to cycle through +1/2 EV, Normal EV, and -1/2 EV. Press the shutter button to confirm. The display will alternate between film count and EV setting after two seconds.

Charging and Cleaning

Charging

The battery level indicator LED is located above the USB-C slot. Refer to the LED status descriptions in the "Getting Started" section for charge levels.

Cleaning

Use a microfiber cloth for the lens to prevent scratches. For spotted marks on photos, clean the rollers. Open the film door, use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the rollers while turning the black plastic gear on the bottom left. Ensure rollers are dry before use. Clean rollers between film packs or every 2-3 packs.

Troubleshooting

1. Photo or Darkslide Not Ejecting

Ensure the camera is charged (red blinking LED indicates low charge). Check remaining photos by holding the power button for two seconds; the display shows the count. If '0' is shown, the film pack is empty.

2. Flash Not Firing

The flash is enabled by default. If not firing, press the flash button once. Ensure it's not accidentally pressed during shooting.

3. Photo Too Dark

Polaroid cameras require ample light. Avoid shooting directly into the sun, as this can cause overexposure of the background and underexposure of the subject. Use the flash or an alternative light source indoors or in low-light conditions.

4. Photo Blurry or Fuzzy

Maintain a minimum distance of 55cm (1.8ft) from the subject. Hold the camera steady, especially in low light, and ensure adequate lighting.

5. Incorrect Film Counter Display

The counter resets to '8' with a new film pack. If a partial pack is inserted, it counts down from '8'. A full new pack will correctly show 8 remaining shots.

6. Changed Mind After First Double Exposure Shot

Turn off the camera, press and hold the shutter button. Turn the camera back on; the display will show '-'. Continue holding the shutter button for over 10 seconds until the film is ejected.
