GRANDSTREAM Networks HT818 V2 Analog Telephone Adapter Installation Guide
The HT818 V2 is not pre-configured to support or make emergency calls to any type of hospital, law enforcement agency, medical care unit (“Emergency Service(s)”) or any other kind of Emergency Service. You must make additional arrangements to access Emergency Services. It is your responsibility to purchase SIP-compliant Internet telephone service, properly configure the HT818 V2 to use that service, and periodically test your configuration to confirm that it works as you expect. It is also your responsibility to purchase traditional wireless or landline telephone services to access Emergency Services.

PRECAUTIONS
- Do not attempt to open, disassemble, or modify the device.
- Do not expose this device to temperatures outside range of -10 °C to +55 °C.
- Do not expose the HT818 V2 to environments outside of the following humidity range: 10-90% RH (non-condensing).
- Do NOT power cycle the HT818 V2 during system boot up or firmware upgrade. You may corrupt firmware images and cause the unit to malfunction.
- Use only the power adapter included in the HT818 V2 package. Using an alternative non-qualified power adapter may possibly damage the unit.
OVERVIEW
The HT818 V2 is an 8 port analog telephone adapter (ATA) that allows users to create a high-quality and manageable IP telephony solution for residential and office environments. Its ultra-compact size, voice quality, advanced VoIP functionality, security protection and auto provisioning options enable users to take advantage of VoIP on analog phones and enables service providers to offer high quality IP service. The HT818 V2 is an ideal ATA for individual use and for large scale commercial IP voice deployments.

CONNECTING THE HT818 V2
The HT818 V2 can be connected via NET1 port or NET2 port, by default, NET1 is WAN (DHCP Client) and NET2 is LAN (DHCP Server):
Connecting the HT818 V2 Using NET1 port:
- Insert a standard RJ11 telephone cable into an FXS port and connect the other end of the telephone cable to a standard touch-tone analog telephone.
- Connect the NET1 port of the HT818 V2 to a router, switch or modem using an Ethernet cable.
- Insert the power adapter into the HT818 V2 and connect it to a wall outlet (make sure to respect the technical specifications of the power adapter used).
- The Power, NET1 and FXS LEDs will be solidly lit when the HT818 V2 is ready for use.
Connecting the HT818 V2 Using NET2 port:
- Insert a standard RJ11 telephone cable into an FXS port and connect the other end of the telephone cable to a standard touch-tone analog telephone.
- Connect a computer or switch to the NET2 port of the HT818 V2 using an Ethernet Cable.
- Insert the power adapter into the HT818 V2 and connect it to a wall outlet and make sure to respect the technical specifications of the power adapter used.
- The Power, NET2 and FXS LEDs will be solidly lit when the HT818 V2 is ready for use.
CONFIGURING THE HT818 V2
The HT818 V2 can be configured either using the embedded Web GUI using PC’s web browser or through the IVR voice prompt menu.
Configure via IVR Menu
Please refer to the steps bellow to access the interactive voice response menu:
- Use a telephone connected to one of the phone ports of your HT818 V2.
- Press *** (press the star key three times) to access the IVR menu and wait until you hear “Enter the menu option “.
- Follow IVR Menu options to configure the HT818 V2. Move to next option by pressing * or press # to go to main menu.
Note:
Users can obtain the IP address by accessing the IVR Menu and pressing 02.
Configure using Web UI
- Connect the computer to the same network as your HT818 V2 and make sure the HT818 V2 is booted up.
- You may check your HT818 V2 IP address by accessing the IVR Menu and pressing 02 on the connected phone.
- Open the Web browser on your computer.
- Enter HT818 V2’s IP address in the address bar of the browser.
- Enter the administrator’s password to access the Web Configuration Menu
(The default admin password is printed on the sticker located on the back of the unit).
Note:
The computer must be connected to the same sub-network as the HT818 V2.
This can be easily done by connecting the computer to the same hub or switch as the HT818 V2.
