GODOX AD200 PRO Version

GODOX AD200Pro Godox AD200 PRO Version

Introduction

The new ad200Pro TTL flash is an improvement over the original ad200 “Pocket Flash” with interchangeable flash heads. It is a powerful 200 watt second, fully cordless TTL strobe with built-in 2.4GHz wireless. This is the “Pro” version, which offers the best portable flash experience you can imagine thanks to features like Stable Color Mode, ID Settings for Channel security, 1/10th stop precision, and sophisticated internal improvements. Godox triggers are used to activate the AD200 Pro TTL on-camera and studio flashes in TTL/M/Multi mode for accurate flash exposure even in challenging lighting conditions. For remote power control and photography, this tried-and-true performer is compatible with and instantly detects Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Pentax, Panasonic, and Olympus systems.

You can quickly attach the flash head of your choice, whether it’s the thrilling Round Head with a superb clean light spread, the classic speedlite-style Fresnel Head, or the simple Barebulb Head with a useful parabolic reflector. Professional photographers with an eye for flexible multiple light setup favor this design because of the remarkable power and control packed into these small, light-weight flashes.

CALCULATING THE SHUTTER SPEED
During stroboscopic flash, the shutter remains open until the firing stops. Use the formula below to calculate the shutter speed and set it with the camera.

NUMBER OF FLASHES / FLASH FREQUENCY = SHUTTER SPEED

For example, if the number of flashes is 10 and the firing frequency is 5 Hz, the shutter speed should be at least 2 seconds.

To avoid overheating and deteriorating the flash head, do not use stroboscopic flash more than 10 times in succession. After 10 times, allow the camera flash to rest for at least 15 minutes. If you try to use the stroboscopic flash more than 10 times in succession, the firing might stop automatically to protect the flash head. If this happens, allow at least 15 minutes’ rest for the camera flash.

  • Stroboscopic flash is most effective with a highly reflective subject against a dark background.
  • Using a tripod and a remote control is recommended.
  • A flash output of 1/1 and 1/2 cannot be set for stroboscopic flash.
  • Stroboscopic flash can be used with “buLb”.
  • If the number of flashes is displayed as “–”, the firing will continue until the shutter closes or the battery is exhausted. The number of flashes will be limited as shown by the following table.

OTHER APPLICATIONS

WIRELESS CONTROL FUNCTION

The flash unit is built in with a Wireless Control Port so that you can wirelessly adjust the power level of the flash and the flash triggering.

To control the flash wirelessly, you need a FT-16 remote control set (on- camera and on-flash). Insert its receive end into the Wireless Control Port on the flash and insert the transmit end into the camera hot shoe. Settings made on the hotshoe-mounted transmit and receive ends will be wirelessly communicated to the flash. Then you can press the camera shutter release button to trigger the flash. You can also hold the transmit end at hand to control your off-camera flash.

FAQs

Did you find the price difference worth it to buy the ad200 pro instead of the ad200? why?

I did. More color consistency.

Do you have to dump power?

I USE VARIOUS POWER SETTINGS DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF PICTURE I TAKE AND THE LIGHTING.

Does this need an adapter to attach modifiers?

I’m not sure if it would be possible to attach a modifier without an adapter. I purchased the Godox S-type Bracket Bowens Mount Holder for $17.99, from Amazon. I just checked and the price has dropped to $16.99. This holds the AD200 Pro firmly, and makes it easy to attach a soft box or umbrella, etc.

can this get wet?

No, Godox products are not weather sealed.

Is this compatible with the Nikon D800?

Yes it is. You need to purchase the (Godox X-Pro N) as a transmitter and the AD200 will receive and be controlled by it automatically.

Is anyone using this for real estate? If so, what’s been your experience?

Sorry, I am not in real estate, but I use this flash very effectively indoors, combining it with natural light in portraiture and other photography.

Would this work on my canon eos 600d?

It should, provided you have the proper Godox command trigger for Canon (XPro C, X1T-C).

How do you find the instructions on how to sync this with the godox x trigger?

It should automatically sync if the flash and trigger are on the same channel.

Can I use it with a Sony a6300?

You should be able to use the AD200Pro with any camera compatible with a Godox trigger that is, in turn, compatible with the Sony a6300. It looks like this GODOX Xpro-S for Sony would do the trick.

which transmitters work with this?

The Godox X1, X2, and XPro triggers will work.

Is this fully compatible with the canon eos r6 with 2nd curtain sync in manual mode?

Should be, provided you’re using the Canon-specific Godox trigger.

What is diff between this and the older model?

there are some improvements for the 2nd version.

Can it be used continuously or just as a quick flash?

No

Is this compatible with the canon eos r mirroless?

The flash will work with any camera, provided you have the correct trigger. You’ll need a Canon compatible X1 from Godox.

What stand do you guys attach this to? I want to find the stand that this attaches to because obviously you get the attachment piece.

Using the lightstand attachment that comes with it, you can mount it on any lightstand. Additionally, if you purchase one of the Godox S-Type brackets, you can mount it in a softbox.
