Product Usage Instructions

Disable System Power:

  1. Turn OFF the BATTERY DISCONNECT switch (upper left of battery).
  2. Turn OFF ESS 1 breaker in SDS (and ESS 2 breaker if equipped).
  3. Turn OFF AC PV breaker in SDS.
  4. If equipped with a generator, disable it per owner’s manual instructions.
  5. Turn OFF main breaker in SDS if SDS is service equipment. Turn OFF breaker in upstream panelboard if SDS is not service equipment.

Remove Existing Gateway:

  1. Remove front cover from SDS by loosening captive fasteners and lifting it.
  2. Remove top cap by unscrewing two screws.
  3. Put on ESD gloves and remove the antenna board by unscrewing twoscrews and disconnecting antennas.
  4. Unplug Ethernet cable and comm connector from the gateway.
  5. Remove gateway by unscrewing six screws.

Install New Gateway:

  1. Install new gateway using the existing six screws.
  2. Reconnect Ethernet cable and comm connector.
  3. Reconnect antennas to the new gateway and secure withscrews.
  4. Reassemble the top cap and front cover.

Restore System Power:

  1. If remote E-Stop is open, close it.
  2. Turn ON main breaker in SDS or breaker in upstream panel board.
  3. Reenable generator if applicable per owner’s manual instructions.
  4. Turn ON AC PV breaker, ESS breakers, and BATTERY DISCONNECT switch.

Recommission System:

  1. Affix new QR code over existing one on SDS dead front.
  2. Use Field Pro app to recommission the system by scanning the new QR code and completing the process.

Instructions

Only qualified persons as defined by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70, National Electrical Code (NEC) should access or work on the connections within the PWRcell 2 system. These instructions may only be performed by qualified persons in compliance with all NEC, Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

Tools and Materials

  • Safety glasses
  • Phillips and M3 Torx screwdrivers
  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) gloves
  • Replacement gateway and QR code label

Outline of Steps

  1. Disable system power.
  2. Remove existing gateway.
  3. Install new gateway.
  4. Restore system power.
  5. Recommission system.

Disable System Power

  1. Turn OFF the BATTERY DISCONNECT switch (upper left of battery).
  2. Turn OFF ESS 1 breaker in SDS (and ESS 2 breaker if equipped).
  3. Turn OFF AC PV breaker in SDS.
  4. If equipped with generator, disable generator via control panel per instructions in owner’s manual.
  5. Turn OFF main breaker in SDS if SDS is service equipment.
    OR
    Turn OFF breaker in upstream panelboard feeding SDS if SDS is not service equipment.
    NOTE: If remote E-Stop is wired to SDS, open E-Stop to initiate a system-wide shutdown then turn OFF utility breaker at SDS as an alternative method to disable system power.

Remove Existing Gateway

  1. See Figure 1. Remove front cover from SDS by first loosening captive fasteners on side of cover and then lifting up and toward you.
  2. Remove two screws holding top cap, then remove top cap.

  3. See Figure 2. Put on ESD gloves, then remove two screws holding antenna board.
  4. Carefully disconnect each of the three antennas from the gateway by squeezing the tab, then remove the antenna board.
  5. Unplug Ethernet cable (if equipped) from left side port.
  6. Unplug the comm connector from the right side port.
  7. Remove six gateway screws, then remove gateway.

Install New Gateway
See Figure 3.

  1. Reuse six screws to install new gateway onto SDS.
  2. Remove right dust cover from left side port and reconnect Ethernet cable (if equipped).
  3. Reconnect the comm connector to the right side port.
  4. Position antenna board over gateway and carefully reconnect three antenna connections (push on).
  5. Reinstall two antenna board screws.
  6. Reposition top cap and reinstall two screws.
  7. Replace front cover and retighten captive fasteners.

Restore System Power

  1. If remote E-Stop is open, close it.
  2. Turn ON main breaker in SDS. OR
    Turn ON breaker in upstream panelboard feeding SDS.
  3. Reenable generator (if equipped) per instructions in owner’s manual.
  4. Turn ON AC PV breaker in SDS.
  5. Turn ON ESS 1 breaker in SDS (and ESS 2 breaker if equipped).
  6. Turn ON the BATTERY DISCONNECT switch (upper left of battery).

Recommission System

  1. Affix new QR code over existing QR code on SDS dead front.
  2. Use Field Pro app to re-commission system:
    • Scan new QR code.
    • Complete recommissioning process.
