Gauge External Relay Driver
The gauge external relay driver can be used with particular GaugeInnovations.com gauge models to extend warnings and alarms to external devices such as fans, pumps, alarm lights and sirens.
Relay Driver Enclosure
How it Works
The gauge external relay driver has two relay driver outputs controlled by the gauge firmware.
Relay 1 : Provides a current limited (200ma) solid state connection to ground if there is an AMBER warning or RED alarm on the gauge icon number
- For example, Relay Driver 1 could be used to switch on an engine cooling fan or alarm strobe light/siren via a 12v high current relay.
Relay 2 : Provides a current limited (200ma) solid state connection to ground if there is an AMBER warning or RED alarm on the gauge icon number - For example, Relay Driver 2 could be used to switch on a transmission cooling fan or alarm strobe light/siren via a 12v high current relay.
Both relay drivers are designed for 12v negative ground vehicles. A LED indicates which relay driver is operating.
The External Relay Driver will be recognised by the gauge at power up factory reset.
Installation
What’s in the box
- External Relay Driver (including enclosure) 47mm long, 41mm wide, 14mm high.
- A cable (2 meters) with a 3 pin plug to connect the External Relay Driver to the under the bonnet junction box.
Gauge External Relay Driver installation is straightforward.
- One 3 pin plug plugs into the under the bonnet junction box
- Spade lug connections (Relays 1 and 2) for vehicle ground and the 12v automotive relay connections.
- Select an installation location which is:
o well away from any other sources of heat such as exhausts, turbos etc.
o protected from mechanical damage to the Relay Driver or its cable
o well away from sources of excessive electrical noise (eg spark plugs and two-way radios)
The External Relay Driver will be recognised by the gauge at power up factory reset.
