Safety Instructions

Before operating the radio, please read all safety and operating

Installation Instructions

To install the belt clip:

  1. Place the belt clip on the back of the radio in the reserved
    position.
  2. Use the screwdriver provided to tighten the screws on both
    sides of the belt clip.

To use the wrist strap:

  1. Pass the wrist strap through the circular hole at the top of
    the belt clip.
  2. Tighten the strap to secure it to the clip.

What should I do if battery leakage occurs?

If battery leakage occurs and comes into contact with your skin,
follow these steps:

  1. Wash quickly with soap and water.

  3. If battery liquid gets into your eyes, flush them with clean
    water for at least 10 minutes and seek medical attention
    immediately.

Installing Belt Clip

Installing the Belt Clip.

Belt Clip

Place the belt clip in the reserved position on the back of the radio, and use the screwdriver in the package to tighten the screws on both sides of the belt clip. The belt clip is now installed.

Wrist Strap

Secure your radio while on the go.
When in use, it can be directly clipped onto your belt purse, or backpack.
If you need to install a wrist strap, pass it through the circular hole at the top of the belt clip and tighten it to secure it to the clip.

Operational Cautions

Exposure to high volume sound levels may cause temporary or permanent damage to your hearing. Although there is no single volume setting that is appropriate for everyone, you should always use your radio with the volume set at low level and avoid prolonged exposure to high volume sound levels.

possible, use your radio in a quiet environment with low background noise. 3. Limit the amount of time you use headsets or earpiece at high volume levels. 4. When using the radio without a headset or earpiece, do not place the radio’s
speaker directly against your ear. 5. Observe all signs and instructions that require an electrical device or RF radio
product to be switched off in designated areas,such as gas/refueling stations,hospitals,blasting areas,potentially explosive atmospheres,or aircraft. 6. If you experience a skin irritation after using this product, discontinue use and seek medical attention. 7. Electromagnetic Interference

Turn off your radio in any facility where posted notices instruct you to do so. Replace the battery

The battery of this radio is installed at the factory and should not be removed unless necessary.

Remove Belt Clip Battery Door Screws Battery Connector
Wires Alignment

If the battery becomes damaged and needs to be replaced, follow these steps for installation:
1. Unscrew 2 screws at the belt clip with a proper screwdriver, then remove belt clip .
2. Unscrew 3 screws at battery door with a proper screwdriver, then open the battery compartment cover. Connect the battery connector in proper polarity.
3. Place the battery inside battery compartment and align the wires as shown. Ensure the battery connector with cables is tucked into the hole located at bottom.
Wires are required to be inserted into the battery compartment completely and carefully. If any object interferes with the sealing ring, the compartment’s sealing performance will be affected.
4. Place the battery compartment cover, screw down the screws mildly. (Screw nuts may be damaged if overtighten)
5. Re-attach the belt clip.

Quick Trial
1. Press button for 3 seconds to start the machine and press and hold the button again to turn it off.
2. Select a desired channel Channel 1 is set as the default channel with no privacy code, allowing direct communication for trial use.
3. Press and hold the PTT button while speaking into the microphone. 4. When finished talkingrelease the PTT button and listen for a response.

Operation Using Your Radio

Before using the radio, please ensure that it is fully charged. It is likely that a newly purchased radio’s battery may not be fully charged, with the battery level possibly being less than 80% or even as low as 20%. To avoid any inconvenience during your usage, it is recommended to fully charge the battery before using the radio. This will ensure optimal performance and a better user experience.
For charging radios with the belt clip in desktop charger:
1. Insert radio(s) into desktop charger as shown. 2. Insert the USB Type-C cable into the jack on back of
the charger. 3. Plug the cable into USB compatible power port. For
pluggable equipmentthe socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.
If charging light is not on, check position of radio. Radio should be upright. The charge indicator light will stay on as long as the radio is in the charging mode.

Type-C

Charging the radio with a cable:
To charge a single radio, you can bypass the desktop charger and simply insert the Type-C connector directly into the charge jack located on the Bottom of the radio.
The radio will display flashing battery icon while charging.

Sleep pattern
The radio is equipped with a silent charging function, which disables the reception of regular two-way calls during charging, but still allows the reception of weather alerts as well as the reception and transmission of emergency alerts.
Note: To ensure that your radio is always fully charged and in an alert state, Gaswei recommend that you connect it to a power source and keep it turned on.

Turning on Your Radio

Press button for 3 seconds to start the machine and press and hold the button again to turn it off.
The display screen shows the current channel, code and all features that are enabled.

Single-Frequency Mode: Pressing and holding either PTTA or PTTB allows for transmitting signals to the current channel for communication. A short press on PTTB can send a call.

Dual-Wctch Standby:

When Dual-Watch Standby (

) is enabled, pressing and holding PTTA will

transmit signals on the

channel (primary channel) for communication,

while pressing and holding PTTB will transmit signals on the

channel

(secondary channel) for communication. The call function of PTTB will not be

available in Dual Watch Mode.

Communicating with Another Person

2 inches from Mouth

1. Press and hold the PTT button.The screen will display the ” ” icon.
2. Position the microphone about 2 inches (5 cm) from your mouth, speak in a normal voice.
3. Release the PTT button when you are finished talking and listen for a response.

You cannot receive incoming calls while pressing the PTT button.

Both radios must be tuned to the same channel and privacy code to communicate.

This radio is equipped with default Privacy Code on each channel for minimizing unwanted signals from others. See page 15 to modify the channel and privacy code for the radio.

Listening for a Response
Release the PTT button to receive incoming transmissions. The screen will display the ” ” icon. Your radio is always in Standby mode while the PTT buttons are not pressed.

Adjusting the Volume
1. Press the button to decrease the volume. 2. Press the button to increase the volume. Do not hold the radio close to your ear. lf the volume is set to an uncomfortable level; it can hurt your ear.

Battery Save Mode
If there are no transmissions within 10 seconds, the radio will automatically switch to Battery Save Mode . This will not affect the radio’s ability to receive incoming transmissions.

Battery Low

Battery Low

When the battery is low, the battery bar in the battery icon will be emptied and the radio will beep every minute to show your battery needs to be recharged.

Range

Maximum Range Your range will vary depending on terrain and conditions.

Reduced Range

In flat, open areas your radio will work at maximum range.
Buildings and foliage in the path of the signal can reduce the range of the radio.
Dense foliage and hilly terrain will further reduce the range of the radio.

Auto Squelch
Your radio will automatically filter out weak transmissions and unwanted noise due to terrain, conditions limit.

NOAA Weather Band

Your radio includes an NOAA weather function, allowing you to listen to 10 channels of NOAA weather broadcasts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

To select a weather channel

where you can listen to the current weather channel.

2. In weather mode, press the MENU button to make the

weather channel blink. Then press the

button to select the desired weather channel.

3. Press the left PTTA button to stay tuned to the current

weather channel.

NOAA Weather Alerts

Your radio has an NOAA weather alert function, enabling you to automatically receive weather alerts from designated NOAA stations.

1. In weather mode, press the MENU button to make the weather channel blink. Then press the / button to select the weather channel you want alerts from.
2. Press the MENU button again to make OF or ON blink on the right side of the weather channel code.

4.Press the left PTTA button / MENU button to return to weather listening mode.

5.Press the left PTTA button again to exit weather mode and return to standby

mode, with the weather alert icon displayed in standalone mode.

1. NOAA weather stations are designated to cover specific areas, and services may be limited. Please consult your local meteorological bureau for frequencies and detailed information, or visit the United States www.weather.gov/nwr to find suitable transmitters in your area. The use of the NOAA logo does not represent approval or implied approval by the NOAA National Weather Service.
2. As with two-way radio reception, weather channel reception depends on your distance from the transmitter and whether you are indoors or outdoors. Since weather channel transmissions are uncoded, they may contain static or noise.

FM Radio

The radio features an FM radio function, capable of receiving all stations within the frequency range of 87.5 Hz to 108.0 Hz.

Fine-tuning the station frequency
Once in radio mode, press the MENU button or the PTTB button to set the radio frequency.

Automatic station scanning
In radio mode, hold the MENU button or the PTTB button for 3 seconds. It will automatically scan forward or backward for stations with signals, stopping immediately upon finding one and staying tuned to that station.

To turn off the FM radio Press the button again to turn off the FM radio and return to standby mode.

Note
1. Radio reception is highly dependent on your surroundings. Moving to an outdoor highland with no obstacles can provide the best experience.
2. Intercom signals can be received in FM radio mode. After receiving the intercom signal, if there is no other operation, it will automatically return to FM radio mode after 6 seconds.
3. Weather alerts cannot be received in FM radio mode.

Monitoring mode
When the current channel signal is weak, you can simultaneously press and hold the and buttons to enter monitoring mode. Release the buttons to immediately exit monitoring mode. With monitoring mode on, you can listen to all conversations on the current channel, regardless of whether privacy codes are set.

Keyboard lock

To avoid accidental changes to the radio settings, press and hold the button for 3 seconds. The ” ” icon will appear on the display screen, and only the left PTTA will remain active. Repeat the same steps to unlock the keypad.

Note: In Dual Watch (

) mode, when the keypad lock is activated, PTTB

will also be in an active state.

Memory Channel Scan

Your radio can automatically scan through the 22 sets of channel and privacy code combinations you have stored. If you want to scan for more radio signals, please turn off the privacy code for all channels before scanning.

To start scanning

Press and hold the button for 3 seconds until the” and the radio begins scanning channels.

While scanning is active, you can perform the following operations

1. Change scanning direction: Press or briefly to change the scanning

direction.

2. Resume scanning: After detecting a radio signal, press

or

briefly

to resume scanning.

3. Cancel scanning: Press the MENU button briefly to cancel scanning and

return to standby mode.

4. Save scanned channel: When a radio signal is detected, stop scanning. Press

PTTA on the left side of the radio briefly to save and stay on the scanned

channel, entering standby mode.

Tip: When a radio signal is detected during scanning, the radio will stay on the scanned channel. If the radio signal stops transmitting or no other operations are performed, the radio will continue scanning after 5 seconds.

Factory data reset

If you encounter a program bug or have set parameters that you are not familiar with, you can perform a restore operation, which will reset all settings to their factory state.
First, turn off the radio. While it is off, press and hold the PTTB button, and then press and hold the button. After the radio vibrates and turns on, the factory settings restoration is successful. Factory settings parameters are: Channel 1, Privacy Code OFF, Volume Level 4, Power Hi.
Note: Restoring factory settings cannot be performed while charging.

When the 2CH Dual-Watch is enabled, the menu for setting the channel and code of will appear. It will be hidden when Dual-Watch is disabled.

Selecting a Channel

The radio has a standard of 22 channels. Channels (1-7) and (15-22) offer high and low power options, while channels (8-14) are only available in low power.

Channel Selection:

Select Channel 1. Briefly press and release the MENU button, and the channel number will blink.

2. Press the / hold down the

button to select a channel. (You can / button to quickly advance.)

3. Press PTTA or PTTB to save and return to standby mode. Alternatively, press the MENU button to continue with other settings.

Tip: If no button is pressed within 10 seconds, it will automatically return to standby mode.

Privacy Codes

Your radio incorporates two advanced coded squelch systems that can help to reduce interference from other users on any given channel. This provides a total of 121 Privacy Codes.

Setting CTCSS/DCS Privacy Codes:

Voice Activated TransmitVOX)

In VOX mode, your radio can be used”hands-free,” automatically transmitting when you speak. You can set the VOX sensitivity level to fit the volume of your voice and avoid transmissions triggered by background noise.

/ button to turn VOX on or off.

3.Press PTTA or PTTB to save and return to standby mode. Alternatively, press the MENU button to continue with other settings.

OF: Turn off VOX mode. 1-9: Turn on VOX mode and set the VOX sensitivity.

The VOX sensitivity level is displayed as numbers 1-9, where number 9 is the most sensitive level and number 1 is the least sensitive level.

Power Saving
Power-Saving Settings: 1. Press the MENU button until the ” ” icon appears. 2. Press the / button to select a power-saving level. 3. Press PTTA or PTTB to save and return to standby mode. Alternatively, press
the MENU button to continue with other settings.
OF: Turn off power-saving mode. 1-4: Turn on power-saving mode and set the power-saving level. Among them, level 4 is the most energy-efficient, and it is recommended to set the power-saving level to 3. Please set the power saving level as needed, excessively high power saving levels may cause some voice loss.

Call Alarm

When the key tone is enabled, a sound will be emitted every time a button is pressed.

3. Press PTTA or PTTB to save and return to standby mode. Alternatively, press the MENU button to continue with other settings.

Roger Beep Confirmation Tone

When you release the PTT button after speaking, your audience will hear a confirmation tone. This will alert them that you have finished speaking and they can proceed to talk.

Screen backlight

When you want to save power or don’t need the display backlight during daytime, you can turn it off. This will maximize battery life and extend the usage time of the radio.

SOS Emergency Alarm
The emergency alarm function can be used to signal to your companions that you need urgent assistance. The alarm mode includes Local Alarm and Transmit Alarm. Local Alarm : only sounds on the device itself. Transmit Alarm : sounds on the device and simultaneously sends an alarm sound to radios on the same channel/privacy code.
Transmit Alarm Alarm On/Off
1. Press and hold the SOS button for 3 seconds. The ” ” will be displayed, and the alarm sound will be emitted.
2. Press the side PTTA button to turn off the alarm and return to standby mode.
Setting Local Alarm/Transmit Alarm 1. Press the MENU button until the ” ” icon appears. 2. Press the / button to select Local Alarm or Transmit Alarm. 3. Press PTTA or PTTB to save and return to standby mode. Alternatively, press
the MENU button to continue with other settings. Note: 1.When the alarm mode is enabled, the volume will be automatically
locked to the maximum level. All buttons on the front of the radio will be locked. The alarm will continue until manually stopped by pressing PTTA on the left side. 2.When the alarm mode is transmitting alarm, the” ” icon in the upper right corner of the channel continues to display.
Whisper
This mode allows users to speak in a very low voice while the other party can still hear a louder and clearer sound. This mode enhances the transmission of sound through technical means, ensuring clear and reliable communication in noisy environments. This function is usually enabled when it is inconvenient to speak loudly.
Setting Whisper Mode:
1. Press the MENU button until the ” ” icon appears. 2. Press the / button to turn on or off . 3. Press PTTA or PTTB to save and return to standby mode. Alternatively, press

Silent ChargeSleep pattern
When the silent charge function is enabled, the two-way radio disables the reception of regular two-way communication while charging, but it can still receive weather alerts. This function is generally enabled when you need to rest or sleep and do not want to be disturbed while the radio is charging. Silent Charge:

Vibration Alert
When the vibration function is enabled, the two-way radio vibrates when it receives a signal or a call while in idle mode. The radio automatically enters idle mode 6 seconds after the call ends. Continuous calls within 6 seconds will not trigger repeated vibrations.

Dual Watch
The radio features a Dual-Watch mode, allowing users to scan two channels for any activity. Channel A is the current channel setting , and Channel B is the second channel.
Important Tips: 1. In Dual-Watch mode, holding down PTTA will initiate communication with
the radio on the first channel (Channel A). Holding down PTTB will initiate communication with the radio on the second channel (Channel B). 2. The CALL function of PTTB cannot be used in Dual-Watch mode. 3. Dual-Watch mode consumes battery power faster.

Setting Dual-Watch:

4. Continue pressing the MENU button, and the privacy code for the second channel B will start flashing.
5. Press the / button to select your privacy code.
6. Press PTTA or PTTB to save and return to standby mode. Alternatively, press the MENU button to continue to the next level of settings.

Channel B

OF: Dual-Watch is off. 1-22: Dual-Watch is on and set to a channel. Numbers 1-22 represent the channel numbers for the second channel B.

After returning to standby mode, the letter ”

” appears, indicating that

Dual-Watch is enabled. ” ” icons will display alternately, and the correspo-

nding channels and privacy codes for ” “/ ” ” will also display alternately.

Your radio starts scanning the two channels for active channels/codes and stops on any active channel. When a channel is active, dual-watch scanning stops and stays on the active channel for 6 seconds before resuming dual-watch scanning.

To turn off Dual-Watch mode:

“OF” is positioned between Channel 1 and 22. That is, the sequence of channel numbers cycles as 1, 2, 3, …, 22, OF, 1, 2, 3, …, 22, OF, …

High/Low Power

The two-way radio has two power level options (Hi and Lo). Higher transmission power (Hi) provides a longer range but consumes more battery. Set it according to your actual needs.
