Please observe both the safety and also the installation instructions provided by each individual system or vehicle manufacturer for all repairs to electrical systems
Instructions for Use
1. Tools and Parts Preparation
- Rearview camera (with video cable + power cable)
- Phillips/flathead screwdriver, wire stripper, electrical tape or heat-shrink tubing
- Interior trim removal tools (to avoid scratching plastic parts)
- Cable ties, double-sided tape
- Multimeter (optional, for testing reverse light positive and negative poles)
2. Determine the Mounting Location
Three common installation positions:
- License plate light position (most common and recommended)
- Trunk handle position
- Drilled embedded type (not recommended for beginners)
The license plate light replacement type is preferred for damage-free installation.
3. General Wiring Route
- Camera Trunk interior Door/roof weather strip Head unit/display in the center console.
4. Detailed Installation Steps
Step 1: Remove the Trunk Interior Panel
- Open the trunk, remove plastic clips and screws holding the interior panel.
- Gently pry off the panel to expose the metal frame and factory wiring.
Step 2: Connect Power to the Reverse Light
- Locate the reverse light harness (the light that turns on when in Reverse gear).
- Normally: Red positive, Black/Brown = negative.
- Camera red wire → Connect to reverse light positive
- Camera black wire → Connect to reverse light negative or chassis ground
- Insulate all connections with electrical tape or heat-shrink tubing to prevent short circuits.
Step 3: Mount the Camera
- Remove the original license plate light and install the camera in its place.
- Adjust the angle: Point the lens slightly downward to show the bumper and road behind.
- Tighten all screws to ensure stability and no vibration.
Step 4: Route the Video Cable (Hidden Wiring)
- Run the video cable from the camera into the trunk interior.
- Follow the factory wiring harness or rubber weather stripping and secure with cable ties.
- Route from the trunk along the rear door pillar, then up through the door frame weather strip.
- Run all the way to the back of the center console (behind the head unit).
Avoid pinching, bending sharply, or trapping cables in doors or hinges.
Step 5: Connect to the Head Unit / Display
- Find the backup camera input on the head unit (usually labeled CAM IN, VIDEO IN, or BACK CAM).
- Plug the yellow RCA connector of the camera into the video input port.
- Some models require connecting the reverse trigger wire (blue/pink) to the reverse light positive.
Step 6: Reassemble Trim and Test Function
- Secure excess wiring with cable ties to prevent rattling.
- Reinstall interior panels, license plate light, and plastic clips.
- On-board test:
- Shift to Reverse → Screen automatically switches to rearview image
- Image is clear, not reversed or distorted
- Guide lines match actual distance
5. Common Issues & Notes
- mode. Upside-down / mirrored image: Use the camera switch or head unit setting to enable mirror/flip
- Video interference / flickering: Install a power filter / relay, or re-ground the negative wire.
- No image: Check reverse light power, RCA connection, and reverse camera settings on the head 3. unit.
- Waterproofing: Seal connections near the trunk to avoid water damage.
- Safety: Disconnect the negative battery terminal before wiring to prevent short circuits.
