Vulnerability

Microsoft Corporation has announced vulnerabilities in Windows®. There are measures to fix these vulnerabilities which must also be implemented for our products – GX Print Server for the Iridesse Production Press, GX Print Server 2 for the Versant 3100/180 Press, GX Print Server for the Versant 2100/3100/80/180 Press, GX Print Server for the B9 Series and GX-i Print Server for the PrimeLink C9070/9065 Printer.
Please follow the below procedure to fix the vulnerabilities. The following procedure is intended that a System Administrator of the GX Print Server can fix the vulnerabilities. The steps described below must be performed on the GX Print Server.

Update Programs

An Internet connection is required before proceeding. Access the following URL and download the updates.

  • Download Procedure
    1. Access above URLs with Microsoft Edge.
    2. Click Download.Fuji-GX-Print-Server-2-FIG-1
    3. Right-click on the file name, select Save link as from the menu. Fuji-GX-Print-Server-2-FIG-2If there are more than one updates, perform the above step.
    4. In the Save As screen, select the download destination for the updates, then click Save.
    5. Updates will be saved to the location specified in Step (4).

Install Procedure

  1. Preparation before Applying the Security Updates
    1. Copy the update files to any folder on the GX Print Server.
    2. Turn the power to the Print Server off and disconnect the network cable.
      • Metal parts are exposed on the back of the Print Server’s main body.
      • When disconnecting the network cable be careful to avoid being injured by these parts.
      • Alternatively, you can disconnect the network cable on the hub side.
    3. Turn the Print Server back on.
    4. If the Print Service application is running, then terminate it. (Windows Start menu > Fuji Xerox > StopSystem) Terminate any other running applications.
    5. Double-click on “D:\opt\PrtSrv\utility\ADMINtool\StartWindowsUpdate.bat”.

  2. How to Apply the Security Updates.
    1. Double-click on the security update file. Before applying the security update close all the running applications (e.g., Print Service).
    2. In the Windows Update Standalone Installer, click Yes.Fuji-GX-Print-Server-2-FIG-4

  3. Confirming the Security Updates.
    By following the procedure described below you can confirm if the update programs have been successfully applied.
    1. Select Start Menu > Settings > Control Panel > Programs and Features.
    2. In the left pane click View installed updates.
    3. Confirm that the security updates that you applied are displayed in the list.Fuji-GX-Print-Server-2-FIG-7
  4. Completion
    1. Shut down the Print Server and reconnect the network cable.
    2. Turn the Print Server back on.

GX Print Server 2 is powered by Fuji Xerox patented technology to deliver high resolution at high speed and features APPE (Adobe® PDF Print Engine) and CPS! (Configurable Postscript® Interpreter), 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution, 10-bit colour and straightforward spot colour management.

The developed architecture produces an intermediate data format that reduces RIP load while a RIP Accelerator Board maintains image quality through high-speed, lossless compression. In addition, fast serial transmission accelerates processing of heavy image data.

As standard features designed to expand your business, GX Print Server 2 also offers automated RG B colour correction, digital smoothing technology for sharper text and lines, and Color Profile Maker Pro for creating and adjusting CMYK device profiles.

JOB DIRECTOR FOR EFFORTLESS PAGE IMPOSITION AND DOCUMENT CREATION
Manage pages in documents and combine documents with Job Director, which utilises three main functions to give you simple, drag-and-drop control over complex document management tasks: Imposer displays page imposition, pages of the original document and a preview of the finished document. Sequencer allows you to change page order, copy and delete pages, insert blank pages. Create Combined Jobs makes it easy to assemble one document from multiple files created in different applications.

REALISES SMOOTHER GRADATION CORRECTION
The gradation realised by 10-bit rendering is expressed smoother. Additionally, the gradation correction function results in excellent gradation for more natural, smoother reproduction.

The user interface ensures fast, easy job setup and operation for any user. Printer functions, job status, error messages and other vital information can be seen at a glance on the print server display. The end result is smoother operation with better accuracy.
