Product Usage Instructions

  • Update Programs:
    • An Internet connection is required before proceeding. Access the provided URLs and download the updates.
  • Download Procedure:
    • Access the URLs with Microsoft Edge browser.
    • Click Download.
    • Right-click on the file name and select Save link as from the menu.
    • If there are multiple updates, repeat the above step for each.
    • Select the download destination and save the updates.
  • Install Procedure:
    • Copy the update files to a folder on the GX Print Server.
    • Turn off the Print Server and disconnect the network cable.
    • Turn the Print Server back on and terminate any running applications.
    • Run StartWindowsUpdate.bat from the specified location.
    • Double-click on the security update file and follow on-screen instructions.
  • Confirming the Security Updates:
    • Navigate to Start Menu > Settings > Control Panel > Programs and Features.
    • Click on View installed updates in the left pane.
    • Confirm that the applied security updates are displayed in the list.
  • Completion:
    • Shut down the Print Server and reconnect the network cable.
    • Turn the Print Server back on to complete the process.

Vulnerability
Microsoft Corporation has announced vulnerabilities in Windows®. There are measures to fix these vulnerabilities which must also be implemented for our products – GX Print Server for the Iridesse Production Press, GX Print Server 2 for the Versant 3100/180 Press, GX Print Server for the Versant 2100/3100/80/180 Press, GX Print Server for the B9 Series and GX-i Print Server for the PrimeLink C9070/9065 Printer. Please follow the below procedure to fix the vulnerabilities.

The following procedure is intended that a System Administrator of the GX Print Server can fix the vulnerabilities. The steps described below must be performed on the GX Print Server.

Update Programs

Download Procedure
(1) Access above URLs with Microsoft Edge. (2) Click Download.

(3) Right-click on the file name, select Save link as from the menu.
If there are more than one updates, perform the above step. (4) In the Save As screen, select the download destination for the updates, then click Save. (5) Updates will be saved to the location specified in Step (4).
Install Procedure
1. Preparation before Applying the Security Updates
1. Copy the update files to any folder on the GX Print Server. 2. Turn the power to the Print Server off and disconnect the network cable.
· Metal parts are exposed on the back of the Print Server’s main body. · When disconnecting the network cable be careful to avoid being injured by these parts. · Alternatively, you can disconnect the network cable on the hub side.

3. Turn the Print Server back on. 4. If the Print Service application is running, then terminate it. (Windows Start menu > Fuji Xerox >
StopSystem) Terminate any other running applications. 5. Double-click on “D:optPrtSrvutilityADMINtoolStartWindowsUpdate.bat”. 6. Press return key to continue.
2. How to Apply the Security Updates.
1. Double-click on the security update file. Before applying the security update close all the running applications (e.g., Print Service).
2. In the Windows Update Standalone Installer, click Yes.
3. The Installation will now begin.

4. When the installation is finished, click Close to complete the setup.
3. Confirming the Security Updates.
By following the procedure described below you can confirm if the update programs have been successfully applied. 1. Select Start Menu > Settings > Control Panel > Programs and Features. 2. In the left pane click View installed updates. 3. Confirm that the security updates that you applied are displayed in the list.
4. Completion
1. Shut down the Print Server and reconnect the network cable. 2. Turn the Print Server back on.

Basic Items

This section describes the basic items to be set in Job Properties.

Favorites
When you register frequently used items as favorites, the registered items are displayed on this tab. Clicking a title on the left side displays the corresponding Job Properties.Fuji-Xerox-GX-Print-Server-FIG- (1)

Registering Favorites
Note Favorites can be registered on a user basis.
Step 1. On the [Favorites] tab, click (Configure).

2. Click (Add to Display Settings) or (Delete from Display Settings) to add or delete items to/from the registered Favorites.Fuji-Xerox-GX-Print-Server-FIG- (2)

Note

• The order of favorites list on display can be changed by clicking (Up) or (Down).
• The maximum number of favorites to be registered is 50.
3. Click [OK].

2.2 Advanced Settings
Every item in Job Properties can be set on this screen.
• Clicking [Expand] displays all subtitles.
• Clicking [Collapse] hides all subtitles.

2.3 Configuration List
The current job properties settings are displayed on the dialog box.Fuji-Xerox-GX-Print-Server-FIG- (4)

(1) Details
When you select an item and click [Details], the setting dialog box of the item is displayed. Change the setting, and then click [Close].
Note The dialog box can be opened by double-clicking an item.

The item to be displayed on the header row of current settings list varies by the type of the job property.
(2) Display item setting
When you select one from [All], [Modified from Default], or [Modified], only the corresponding items are displayed.
Search
Searches items whose name includes a character string entered and then displays them. For cancelling search results, click [x].

(Job Properties Settings)
Configure the display settings of the job property.
The settings here are common to job properties of all the jobs. Set each item and then click [OK].Fuji-Xerox-GX-Print-Server-FIG- (6)

z Open at Most Recently Selected Setting
Check the box to view the tab that you were last working on (or the item if you were working in [Advanced
Settings]) the next time you open Job Properties.
Once you log out of Print Server by selecting [{User Name}] >> [Log Out] in the link menu, the display position information is reset.
z First Opened Tab
Select a tab you want to display when you open the job property first.
z Column Settings
Set the column settings and the items displayed by default on the [Configuration List] tab.
Note The Settings can be registered on a user basis.
(Print)
Prints the list of the Job Properties settings.
(Save)
Saves the list of the Job Properties setting in the specified location.
(3) Check mark items
Note You can hide the checked mark items by the settings from [Job Properties Settings] dialog
box.
Modified
This item is displayed when the job property is of Normal and Combined Jobs.
Items changed in the setting will be marked as checked.
Change target
This item is displayed when you open the Job Properties by selecting multiple jobs.
Items for the target of batch editing will be marked as checked.
Priority settings
This item is displayed when it is Job Properties for Job Template.
Items that the “Priority Settings: ON” will be marked as checked.
Common settings
This item is displayed when it is Job Properties for Combined Jobs.
Items that “Common Settings: ON” will be marked as checked.
Modified from Default
This item is displayed in all of the Job Properties.
Items changed from the default settings will be checked

Settings

2 Sided
Select whether to print pages on both sides of paper.
z None
1 Side print is done.
z Flip on Long Edge
The image will be printed on both side of paper.
For portrait documents, both side 1 and 2 are printed with the image oriented right-side up.For landscape
documents, the side 2 is printed with the image oriented upside-down.
Note If there is a RIPped job whose print position or scaling has already been adjusted, and if you
use [Output] > [Shift & Scale] to change the job to [Flip on Long Edge], the job is RIPped
again.
z Flip on Short Edge
The images will be printed on both sides of paper.
For portrait documents, the side 2 is printed with the image oriented upside-down. For landscape documents, both side 1 and 2 are printed with the image oriented right-side up.
z Head to Head
Side 1 and Side 2 are printed duplex so that both top edges are positioned back to back.
z Head to Toe
Side 1 and Side 2 are printed duplex so that top and bottom edges on both sides are positioned in an opposite manner.

„Output Destination Settings
Select the processing method for the received job.
z Hold after Receiving
Holds the imported jobs without printing it.
Note This option is not displayed on Print Station and in the WebManager job properties.
z Hold after Proof Printing
Runs the proof print for the received jobs before printing the job.
Note This option is not displayed on Print Station and in the WebManager job properties.
z RIP and Hold
RIPs the received job and holds it.
z Print
Prints the job without holding it.
z Save As
Registers the job as a resource into Print Server. Select the resources to be registered.
Name
Enter the resource name within 48 bytes.
Overwrite
Check the box to overwrite the registered resource.
„Retain PDL After Print
Check the box to retain jobs even after completing printing.
z Retain Raster
Check the box to retain RIP data even after completing printing.
„Document Page Range
Select the logical page range (it means each page configures the imposition job displayed as “Document
Page”) to be printed.
It is printed with the specified binding pages ignored.
When you select [Specific Pages], enter the page ranges separated by commas (,).
Example: In 2-sided print, enter “2, 3, 6”:
– Sheet 1… The front side is printed with page 2, and the back side is printed with page 3.
– Sheet 2…The front side is printed with page 6, and the back side is blank.
Note • Specify the range of physical pages (i.e. pages after imposition; physical pages are displayed as “Output Sheet”) in [Output Page Range].
• This is unavailable to set for the job for which [Output] > [Divide by Records] is set to other
than [Off] and [Record to Print] is checked.
„Output Page Range
Select the physical page range (it means pages after imposition and displayed as “Output Sheet”) to be
printed.
It is printed with the specified binding pages kept.
Note • Specify the range of logical page (it means each page configures the imposition job displayed as “Document Pages”) from [Document] > [Document Page Range].
• For jobs specified to exclude the top page in their page range, you cannot insert any
sheets into it even if you add a paper by selecting from [Paper] > [Special Pages] > [Add
Inserts] > [Position] > [Before First Page].
• This is unavailable to set for the job for which [Output] > [Divide by Records] is set to other
than [Off] and [Record to Print] is checked.
When you select [Specific Pages], enter the page ranges separated by commas (,).
Example: In 2-sided print with 2 in 1 paper (4 pages in 1 sheet) imposition, enter “2, 3, 6”:
– Sheet 1… The front side is blank, and the back side is printed with page 3 and 4.
– Sheet 2…The front side is printed with page 5 and 6, and the back side is blank.
– Sheet 3… The front side is blank, and the back side is printed with page 11 and 12.

Paper

Settings related to paper and document are displayed.

„Tray/Stock
Select a paper tray in which sheets to be printed are loaded.
Note If paper tray information cannot be obtained (for example, when you have opened and
closed the tray during printing and restarted printing), data is printed with the paper size
that was used for the previous printing.
z Auto Select
Paper is fed from the paper tray that matches the settings for items configured in [Auto Select of Paper
Tray].
Note • If the paper tray that matches the settings for items is only Bypass Tray, paper will be fed
from Bypass Tray.
• If there is a paper tray other than Bypass Tray that matches the settings for items, paper
will be fed from that paper tray, and auto tray switching to Bypass Tray is not performed
even if that paper tray runs out of paper.
• Note the following when [Auto Select] is selected:
– When the selected Paper Tray is not set, or when no paper is set in it, the job will be
aborted as an error unless the substitute paper is used.
– When [Output Paper Size] > [Same as Document Size] is specified, the setting in the Job
Template will be applied.

z Tray *
Paper is fed from the specified paper tray.
z Custom
Set the items by clicking [Configure].
Refer For the information on the custom paper, see “Custom Paper Settings” (p.27).
z Stock
Select the stock to be allocated to job by clicking [Configure].
Paper is fed from the tray in which paper matching the settings configured in the Stock is loaded.
„Auto Select of Paper Tray
When [Tray/Stock] > [Auto Select] is selected, paper is fed from the paper tray that matches the items and
settings configured here.
z Edit
Allows you to perform paper settings. Select the type and color of paper to use.
Note If a user paper has already been configured on the printer unit’s user interface, in [Paper
Type], select the name of the configured user paper.
„Output Paper Size
Select the paper size to be output.
Note Selecting a paper size that exceeds the printer’s printable area results in an image for a single page being printed on two separate sheets.
Refer For information on management of paper size, see “5.8 Paper Sizes” in Server Settings.
z Width, Length
If you select [*Custom Size], enter the width and the length of the custom-sized paper.
Note Enter a size supported by the printer.
„Scaling
Select how the image is enlarged or reduced to fit the paper size.
Note • When you select [Scaling] to reduce a file’s printable area to print, data on the margin
may not be printed correctly.
• When you select [Fit to Printable Area], the image will be scaled to fit the printable area of
the printer. When printing a document whose size is the same as the paper size, the document edge is not clipped off in contrast to [Fit to Paper Size].
„Print Position
Select the print position of the image.
Note This option is ineffective for file types other than graphic files if you set [Scaling] to [Fit to
Paper Size] or [Fit to Paper Size (Reduce Only).

Custom Paper Settings
This option appears when you select [Custom] in [Tray/Stock] and then click [Configure].
Note When using heavyweight or coated paper from Bypass Tray, be sure to check the settings in [Paper Type] and
[Paper Color] are correct. If they are not set correctly, poor fusing or contamination may occur.
„Paper Size
Select the Paper Size.
z Width, Length
If you select [*Custom Size], enter the width and the length of the custom-sized paper.
„Paper Type
Select the Paper Type.
z Sequence
If you select [Tab Stock (106 – 216 gsm)] or [HW Tab Stock (217 – 253 gsm)], enter the number of tabs of a
set.
„Paper Color
Select the color of the paper.

Layout

Settings for imposition are displayed.

Imposition Settings
Select the way of imposition.
Note The settings other than [None] can be set when there are no special pages settings.
Refer For information on the imposition template and imposition settings, see “5.1 Imposition
Template” in Server Settings.
z Use Template, Custom
When [Use Template] is selected, click [Select] and select an imposition template to assign.When [Custom] is selected, click [Configure] and configure the imposition settings. On the displayed screen (Imposition Template/Imposition Properties), you can save the settings as an imposition template by clicking [Save As].

Template Name
The selected template can be edited directly.
To do this, select an imposition template and then click (Edit).
Automatically Determine 2 Sided Printing
Check the box to give Imposition Template settings priority over [Settings] > [2 Sided] setting.
Uncheck the box to give [Settings] > [2 Sided] setting priority over Imposition Template settings.
z Multiple-Up

Number of Placed Pages
Select the number of pages per sheet.
Reading Order
Select the reading order.
Scale to Output Size
Check the box to scale the placed page to output size.

Booklet

Binding Method
Select the way of binding. Select the direction to open pages in the state of booklet.
z Right Bind/Top Bind
Print so as to bind on the right for portrait documents, and on the top for landscape documents.
z Left Bind/Bottom Bind
Print so as to bind on the left for portrait documents, and on the bottom for landscape documents.
Subset
Instead of using subsets, stack, and staple all of the sheets into one booklet or into multiple booklets on specified sheets.
[Auto Divide] creates multiple booklets by dividing all of the sheets equally.
z Sheets per Subset
Enter when [Subsets] is [Specify the Number of Sheets]. The specified sheets can be created into multiple booklets.
For example, when [Sheets per Subset] is 4 and there are 10 sheets in total, three booklets consisting of 4 sheets, 4 sheets, and 2 sheets respectively is output.

Saddle Stitch Margin
Enter the Binding Margin amount for the folded area.
Cover Tray
Select the paper tray for the cover (the first sheet).
Refer For information on [Tray/Stock], see “4 Paper” (p.25).
Scale to Output Size
Check the box to scale the placed page to output size.
„Document Orientation
Select the orientation of the document when you print it.
Note This overrides the PostScript setting.
„Use Document TrimBox
If you check this box when [Imposition Settings] is set to [None], the job is printed with the images trimmed
to match [Finished Size] in [Crop Pages] for the PDF file.
5.1 Page Settings for Imposed Page

Specify when [Imposition Settings] is other than [None].

Use Form for Imposed Page
Check the box to print imposed pages using the form.
Refer For the information on the form settings, see “5.3 Form” (p.37).
„Page Number of Imposed Page
Sets the page number to be printed on the imposition finished pages.
Refer For the information on the pagination settings, see “5.2 Page Number” (p.36).
