Casio CT-S190 Casiotone Quick Start Guide

This guide provides essential information for setting up and operating your Casio CT-S190 Casiotone. Please keep this document in a safe place along with the warranty certificate. Preparation

Preparing a Power Supply

Using the AC Adaptor

  1. Connect the AC adaptor to the DC9.5V jack as shown in the illustration.

Ensure you use only the AC adaptor specified for this Digital Keyboard.

Using Batteries

  1. Open the battery compartment cover. [Open]
  2. Load six AA-size batteries. [Batteries]
  3. Close the battery compartment cover. [Close]
  4. Specify the battery type. Refer to "Configuring Function Settings" on the reverse side of this sheet.

Preparing the Music Stand

Follow the illustration to attach the music stand.

Basic Operation

Power button: Press to turn on power. To turn off power, hold down this button until the display goes blank.

Volume buttons: Use to adjust the overall volume level range.

Dial: Rotate to change a displayed number or value.

HOME button: Press to return to the Home (tone selection) screen.

SUSTAIN button: Pressing causes notes to be sustained longer when keyboard keys are released. Pressing again returns to unsustained notes.

Auto Power Off: Automatically turns off power after 30 minutes of non-use. (On, Off switchable)

Pedal: Sustains notes played while the pedal is depressed. Notes remain sustained as if the keys are held down until the pedal is released.

Selecting a Tone

  1. Press the [HOME button].
  2. Use the [Dial] to select a tone category and number. The table below lists available categories and their corresponding number ranges.

Saving and Loading Instrument Settings

To save to My Setups

  1. Select the desired tone and settings.
  2. Press the [MY SETUP button].
  3. Confirm the save operation by pressing [YES].

To load from My Setups

  1. Press the [MY SETUP button].
  2. Select the desired setup.
  3. Confirm the load operation by pressing [YES].

Playing a Built-in Song

  1. Press the [SONG button].
  2. Use the [Dial] to select a song. The table below lists available song categories and numbers.

To play the song: Press the [Play button].

To practice a particular part:

  • Use the PART buttons: [RIGHT OFF], [LEFT OFF], [BOTH OFF] to mute specific parts for practice.
  • [RIGHT OFF]: Right-hand part muted for right-hand part practice.
  • [LEFT OFF]: Left-hand part muted for left-hand part practice.
  • [BOTH OFF]: Both-hand parts muted for both-hand practice.

Use the [Skip back button] and [Skip forward button] to navigate through the song.

To sound a count: Press the [COUNT button].

Sounding the Metronome

  1. Press the [METRONOME button].
  2. Use the [Dial] to specify a beat value (Off, 1-16).
  3. Press the [Play button] to start the metronome.

Changing the Tempo

  1. Press the [TEMPO button].
  2. Use the [Dial] to adjust the tempo value (20-255).
  3. Press the [Play button] to hear the tempo.

Enjoying DJ Play in the Dance Music Mode

  1. Press the [DANCE button].
  2. Select a pattern by pressing the Pattern phrase switches. The table below lists available categories and numbers.

To use a Dance Music voice: Press a Voice Switch.

Pressing a phrase switch of a phrase that is sounding stops the phrase. By selecting phrases for each part, you can perform dance music incorporating various combinations. You can also start or stop phrase play by pressing the [Play button].

The following switches are available: Voice switches (for Dance Music Voices), Pattern phrase switches, Effect switches, Track reset switch.

Configuring Function Settings

  1. Press the [FUNCTION button].
  2. Use the [Dial] to select a function name.
  3. Change the setting value using the [Dial].

Example: To specify the battery type, select 'Battery' and choose 'Alkaline' or 'Ni-MH' (Rechargeable nickel metal hydride batteries).

To initialize a setting: Select 'Initialize' and confirm with [YES].

Playing a Rhythm

  1. Press the [RHYTHM button].
  2. Use the [Dial] to select a rhythm. The table below lists available rhythm categories and numbers.

To change the pattern: Use the [VAR1 button] or [VAR2 button].

To insert a fill-in: Press the [FILL button].

To sound the accompaniment pattern with chords:

  • Press the [AC button].
  • Use the chord input keyboard to play chords. The example shows a chord progression: C→F→C→G. Inputting a chord when there is a change from one measure to the next is recommended.
