Avalon Energy Storage System
- Wear all appropriate PPE (gloves, safety glasses, rubber-soled shoes) when installing Avalon ESS.
- Download the “Fortress Power Installer” app on your phone and familiarize yourself with its layout and features. Create an account directly within the app.
- Carefully label all conductors between the Smart Energy Panel (SEP) and the inverter.
- Ensure L1 and L2 are phased correctly between the inverter grid port and inverter backup port. Each SEP has a wiring diagram on the inside of the door to facilitate wiring. Failure to follow this may void your warranty.
- Double-check all communication wiring during installation. If longer communication cables are required, please use shielded/twisted pair wires.
- Carefully lift the levers on the load-shedding circuits in the SEP. These levers lift to horizontal only and should not be over-torqued.
- When wiring communications to the grid meter of the SEP use a small flathead screwdriver to lift each orange tab of the green meter connector.
- Do not adjust the “Grid Manual Switch” in the SEP unless directed by a support agent. This switch is controlled automatically by the inverter.
- When energizing the system, power on battery, Inverter, then SEP. Note that the battery will power the SEP screen from the 24VDC wiring.
- There is a short waterproof antenna that comes with the SEP, be sure not to lose it during unboxing as it ensures a strong signal for commissioning and Wi-Fi connection.
