Uric Acid Control Solution
User Manual
Intended Use
FORA Uric Acid Control Solution is intended to be used to ensure that your meter and test strips are working together properly. Use with Multi-functional Monitoring Systems from ForaCare.
This system is intended for use outside the body (in vitro diagnostic use) by people with diabetes at home and by health-care professionals in clinical settings as an aid to monitor if the system is functioning correctly.
About Control Solution
FORA Uric Acid Control Solution contains a known amount of uric acid that reacts with uric acid strips made for ForaCare.
Operation of the control solution test is similar to a uric acid test except that FORA Uric Acid Control Solution is used instead of a drop of blood. The control solutions should provide results within an expected range printed on the test strip vial label or foil pack.
IMPORTANT
The control solution range printed on the test strip label or foil pack may differ. Make sure to use the range printed on the current test strip packaging.
Do a control solution test when:
► you first receive the device.
► you begin using a new vial of test strips.
► you suspect the device or test strips are not working properly.
► your uric acid test results are not consistent with how you feel, or if you think the results are not accurate.
► you have dropped or think you may have damaged the device.
CAUTION
The control solution range printed on the test strip vial or foil pack is for control solution only. It is used to test meter and test strip performance. It is not a recommended range for your uric acid level.
Chemistry
FORA Uric Acid Control Solution is a red solution that contains less than 0.013% Uric Acid.
| Ingredient | Percent |
| Active ingredient: Uric Acid | 0.005 – 0.013% |

Test Procedures
To do a test with FORA Uric Acid Control Solution, follow the instructions printed in the Owner’s Manual that came with the system.
Accurate results depend upon following instructions carefully. Follow the technical guidelines below whenever you test with FORA Uric Acid Control Solution:
- We recommend that you allow the meter, control solution, and test strips to reach room temperature (20°C-25°C / 68°F-77°F) before testing.
- Shake the control solution well before use.
- Discard the first drop of control solution you squeeze out.
- Squeeze out another drop onto the vial cap, and touch the drop with the absorbent hole of the test strip.
- Wipe off the dispenser tip to keep it clean.

Expected Results
At room temperature, FORA Uric Acid Control Solution test results should be within the expected range printed on the test strip vial label.
If test results are outside the expected range printed on the test strip vial or foil pack, please check the troubleshooting guide in the Owner’s Manual and repeat the test. Results that are outside the expected range may indicate:
► An error in the way you are doing the test.
► Expired test strips and control solutions.
► A problem with the meter.
► Control solution that is too warm or too cool.
► The meter code does not match the code printed on the test strip vial or foil pack.
► Failure to shake the control solution vial vigorously.
If the repeat result is still outside the range, the system may not be working properly.
Do not use the system to test your blood. Please contact the dealer for service.
