Service Bulletin History

Purpose
This Service Bulletin announces the release of new firmware for the DZMx Plus (DZP_07). It specifies the changes in the firmware, and specifies required unit markings in accordance with software modification status.
The DZMx Plus can be controlled by two different Flightcell products:

• Flightcell DZMx Plus Control Head (DZP_05)
• Flightcell Controller (DZP_08)

The DZP_05 is automatically updated during the upgrade of the DZMx Plus, however the DZP_08 requires manual upgrades to ensure the device is kept compatible with the DZMx Plus. Refer to the Compatibility section below for more information.

Description of Change

Firmware v4.15.0 contains the following list of changes from v4.14.1:

Known issues:

• WiFI DHCP Server does not propagate DNS server to connected clients. Customers facing this issue should manually insert a DNS server on their own client.
• DZMx Plus may experience brief interruptions in accelerometer data.

Compatibility

The following compatibility table is used to determine compatibility for installations with the Flightcell DZMx Plus (DZP_07) firmware and Flightcell Controller (DZP_08).

Operators should ensure firmware versions between Flightcell devices are kept compatible.

Prerequisites

To determine which firmware version is applicable, and whether an upgrade is required. First identify your current DZP_07 firmware version. This can be retrieved from a connected DZP_05 or DZP_08:

1. DZP_05: Navigate to MENU → Diagnostics Menu → About DZMx
2. DZP_08: Navigate to Maintenance → Diagnostics → F/W Check the current firmware version displayed and then;
   • Install this firmware release if either:
   o The firmware version number is 3.5.0-P4, or
   o The firmware version number begins with v4.x.x and is earlier than v4.15.0.

This Service Bulletin is Optional.
If incorporated, compliance requires updating the firmware and recording the software modification status, found on the unit label, as follows:

After upgrading the DZP_07, mark the product label field “S/W MOD STATUS” with the appropriate letter from the table above.

System Firmware Upgrade
Before commencing the upgrade

1. Refer to the Material Information table above to identify the correct firmware package and equipment you will require for this upgrade.
2. Download the correct firmware package file directly from: https://www.flightcell.com/support/firmware and save it to your local PC or laptop hard drive.
3. Ensure there is enough battery power to run the DZMx Plus for at least 1 hour (DZMx Plus draws approximately 1A at 28VDC).

Firmware upgrade instructions
Firmware upgrade instructions should be followed using the appropriate DZMx Plus Installation manual.
For installations with DZP_05 DZMx Plus Control Head:

  For installations with DZP_08 Flightcell Controller:
• 117-00023 Flightcell DZMx Plus with Flightcell Controller Installation Manual
  Use the revision of the manual which is applicable to the current firmware version installed on the DZMx Plus.

Verification
After the upgrade process has completed, and the DZMx Plus has rebooted to show the main screen, verify that the firmware upgrade has completed successfully. Verification can be done via DZMx Connect, or a connected DZP_05 or DZP_08.
Using DZMx Connect:

1.  Login as Installer
2. Click About and see “Firmware”

Using the DZP_05 DZMx Plus Control Head:

1. Navigate to MENU>Diagnostics Menu>About DZMx.

Using the DZP_08 Flightcell Controller

1. Navigate to Maintenance>Diagnostics Menu>F/W

After a successful upgrade, the firmware should be dzmx-4.15.0r2254
Nameplate Update
Label the unit with the appropriate Modification Status Letter. See the Compliance section above for details.
