Connection Scenarios
Mono Connection
For single input scenarios, to avoid only one output receiving the pass-through signal, change "Input Setting" to "Mixed" in the MENU screen.
Stereo / Dual-Channel Connection
For stereo/dual-channel connections, ensure "Input Setting" in the MENU is set to "Stereo". This routes the left input to the left output and the right input to the right output.
Independent Drum Machine and Instrument Output
To route guitar and drum machine signals to different PA platforms, set "Drum Out" to "Split Out" in the MENU. The guitar signal (pass-through + playback) outputs from the left, and the drum machine signal outputs from the right.
Functional Description
Basic Looper Operation
Selecting a Storage Location
The current storage position is indicated on the screen. Select a location by rotating the MENU knob or by pressing both footswitches simultaneously to enter Position Selection Mode, then use the footswitches to navigate.
Recording a Loop
The GL100 uses symbols to indicate loop states: Empty, Recording (REC), Playback, Overlay recording (DUB), Stop, Save completed, Clear. The operation sequence can be Rec-Play-Dub or Rec-Dub-Play, configurable in "Play Mode" settings. Stop modes include Immediate, OneShot, FadeOut (short), and FadeOut (long).
Cancel
During recording or overdubbing, long-press the left footswitch to cancel and restart immediately.
Undo, Redo
After multiple layers, long-press the left footswitch during playback to undo the last layer or redo it.
Saving
Automatic Saving: Saves the current track layer without interrupting performance. Data is marked as "Temporary" or with a clock symbol. UNDO/REDO are available. Auto-saved recordings can be recalled after power loss.
Manual Saving: Merges recorded layers into a new audio file. Data is marked with a disk symbol. UNDO/REDO are disabled, but the track can be overdubbed or exported. Manual saving is irreversible.
# | Automatically Saved | Manually Saved |
---|---|---|
1 | Clear by long-pressing the right footswitch. | Long-press right footswitch + long-press MENU to delete all data. |
2 | UNDO/REDO available on the last recorded layer. | Track layers merged; irreversible. |
3 | TimeStretch cannot be overdubbed directly after speed change. | TimeStretch can be saved manually to continue overdubbing after speed change. |
4 | Auto-saved content cannot be listened to or exported via computer software. | Manually saved recordings can be listened to and exported using computer software. |
5 | Two layers of auto-saving consume more storage. | Manual saving merges layers, saving space. |
Basic Drum Machine Operation
Drum Machine Play/Stop
Operate via footswitch (repeatedly press right footswitch to start/set tempo, single press to stop/start) or screen operation (open Drum Machine menu, click play/stop icon).
Quick Adjustment of Drum Machine Volume
Hold the DRUM button and turn the MENU knob simultaneously. Note: Drum Machine and Looper volumes are global and not saved with storage locations.
Recording a Perfect Phrase Loop
Achieve perfection through a perfect start, stable playing, and a perfect ending. Features like AUTO REC and Count-in help minimize errors.
- AUTO REC: Detects input signal and starts recording automatically. Activate by pressing the AUTO REC button. Adjust trigger threshold by long-pressing AUTO REC and rotating the MENU knob, or by pressing and holding AUTO REC while rotating the MENU knob.
- Count-in: Ensure AUTO REC is off. Select an empty position, set tempo using TAP button, and press the left footswitch. A one-bar count-in will play before recording starts. The Drum Machine also starts after the count-in if in standby.
Alignment/Quantization of Drum Machine and Phrase Loop
When recording in a position with tempo and time signature assigned, the recording end aligns to the bar determined by the Drum Machine's time signature. If the footswitch is pressed within the first half of a bar, the recording is discarded and resets. If pressed after the first half, it aligns to the end of the bar.
Automatic Drum Machine Matching (DrumMatch)
The DrumMatch function automatically matches the Drum Machine tempo to a recorded phrase. Enable DrumMatch in the system menu. Select genre and pattern in the Drum Machine menu. Record your phrase; the GL100 matches the tempo. The matching progress is shown on screen. If no input is detected or recording terminates early, matching fails. Successful matching synchronizes the phrase and drum machine rhythm during playback.
Starting Over
- Keep drum machine rhythm and re-record phrase: Execute "Clear before manual save" (long-press right footswitch). Phrase content is cleared, drum machine rhythm is kept. Re-record the phrase and press DRUM button to synchronize.
- Delete all: Execute "Delete all" (long-press right footswitch + press MENU button). Clears phrase and matched tempo, resets matching status to "Match" (Standby). This only works if DrumMatch is active.
Time Stretch
TIME STRETCH shifts audio speed without changing pitch. Record or import audio, then press TAP and turn MENU knob simultaneously to accelerate (red) or decelerate (cyan) tempo. Press MENU to return to original tempo. Tempo changes must be saved or cancelled before overdubbing. Manual save makes tempo changes irreversible.
Position Jumping During Performance
Switch between storage positions while the Looper is running. Press both footswitches simultaneously to activate position switching mode. Use footswitches to select target position. The target position activates 3 seconds after stopping switching. The GL100 jumps to the new position to play the stored loop or start recording if empty. Forced jump or cancel jump options are available.
Settings
- 1. Capacity: Displays maximum and used storage capacity.
- 2. Play Mode: Choose between Rec-Play-Dub or Rec-Dub-Play sequences.
- 3. Stop Mode: Configure stop behavior: Immediately, OneShot, FadeOut (short), FadeOut (long).
- 4. Input Setting: Configure input routing for mono or stereo signals (Stereo or Mixed).
- 5. Drum Machine Output: Choose between Mixed output (all signals mixed) or Split Out (instrument/looper on left, drum machine on right).
- 6. DrumMatch: Refer to the Automatic Drum Machine Matching section.
- 7. Reset: Clears all user data and restores factory settings.
Usage Scenarios
- Scenario 1: Phrase Looper Alone: Ensure the Drum Machine is not activated.
- Scenario 2: Drum Machine Alone: Use footswitch or DRUM button to start/stop the drum machine.
- Scenario 3: Drum Machine and Phrase Looper Simultaneously: Record phrase loop first, then superimpose the Drum Machine, or record with count-in, or follow the drum machine to record phrases. Note: Drum machine audio is not included in the recording.
