Main Screen Overview
The main screen of the RS-MS3W software provides controls for connecting to a gateway repeater. The screen is divided into several key areas, indicated by numbered callouts in the software interface.
Key Elements:
- 1. File Menu: Contains an 'Exit' option to close the application.
- 2. Settings: Includes 'Com Port' which displays the COM port number the data communication cable is connected to. Click the dropdown arrow [Dropdown Arrow Icon] to display available COM ports. Refer to the data cable's "Installation Guide" on the Icom website for details on checking the COM port number (see page 1).
- 3. Help Menu: Contains an 'About' option that opens an information window displaying the software version number.
- 4. Start Button: Click to initiate the connection to the destination.
- 5. Stop Button: Click to terminate the connection to the destination.
- 6. Gateway Repeater (Server IP/Domain): Enter the RS-RP3C's gateway repeater address or domain name here. The address can consist of up to 64 characters. NOTE: Your call sign must be registered to the gateway server that has the RS-RP3C installed. Consult the gateway repeater administrator for details.
- 7. Terminal/AP Call sign: Enter the Terminal/AP call sign registered as the access point on the RS-RP3C's Personal Information screen. The call sign has specific formatting requirements: 8 characters total, with a space for the 7th character, and a desired ID suffix (A-Z, excluding G, I, S) for the 8th character. If entered in lowercase, it will automatically convert to uppercase upon clicking 'Apply'.
- 8. Gateway Type: Select the gateway type. Choose "Global" when operating outside of Japan.
- 9. UDP Hole Punch: Enable or disable the UDP Hole Punch function. This feature allows communication with stations using Terminal or Access Point mode even if port 40000 is not forwarded or a static/dynamic Global IP address is not assigned. Information: This function may only allow receiving replies, and may not work with stations using incompatible software. Select "OFF" when your device has a static/dynamic IPv4 Global IP address, or if your router's WAN port has an IPv4 Global IP address and port 40000 is forwarded.
- 10. Allowed Call sign: Enable or disable call sign restriction for Access Point mode. When 'Enable' is selected, only stations with the specified call signs can transmit through the Internet. 'Disabled' allows any call sign to transmit. 'Enabled' allows only call signs listed in section 13 to transmit. When using Terminal mode, select 'Disabled'.
- 11. Allowed Call sign List: Enter call signs that are permitted to transmit when "Allowed Call sign" (10) is set to "Enabled". Up to 30 call signs can be added. To add a call sign, enter it and click <Add> [Add Button]. To delete a call sign, select it from the list and click <Delete> [Delete Button].
- 12. Call sign information field: Displays call sign information transmitted from the PC or received from the Internet. (Example shown: Network -> Transceiver, RPT2, RPT1, UR, MY).
- 13. Call sign field: Displays the call signs that are allowed to transmit when "Allowed Call sign" (10) is set to "Enabled".
- 14. Apply Button: Click to save entered data or settings. The button turns red when changes are made and the changes are not saved until this button is clicked.
