Installation Instructions

HOW TO CONNECT WITH APP

Activate the Ecobee app.
A new account can be created by choosing Register Your Device.

opt for ecobee Switch.
Choose “Get Started.”

Choose Permit Location Access.
To allow Ecobee to use the location of the device, select Allow or OK.

To add your switch to the app, choose it and hit Add.

HOW TO RESET

For five seconds, press and hold the main button.

A “Reset to factory settings” voice prompt will eventually appear.
Again, press the primary button.
Await the amber light to turn on (about 30 seconds).
Utilizing the Ecobee app, try registering again.

FAQs

Can this be used in dual switch boxes?

Yes, you can install your ecobee Switch+ in a multi-gang location, as long as you have all the required wires in the electrical box. Instead of using the wall plate provided in the ecobee Switch+ box, you can simply use your existing multi-gang wall plate once the Switch+ is installed.

How many wires do I need in the wall for this to work?

You’ll need at least 4 wires: Line wire, Load wire, Ground wire and Neutral wire.

Can you turn on/off the lights manually without using Alexa?

Hey there! You can! It has an On/Off push button on the front.

Will this be compatible with Wink Hub on day of release?

The switch+ will be compatible with Wink Hub, but not until after it’s released. At release, it will be compatible with Alexa, Homekit, Google Assistant, IFTTT, and Smart Things.

Can you snooze the motion so if you are checking on kids at night it won’t turn on?

You can enable or disable the motion detection feature.

Can anyone confirm if the temperature sensor on this will work with the Ecobee SmartSi?

Temperature sensor is still not fully functional.

Are these available as a dimmer switch or only on/off?

This product does not have a dimmer switch.

Does it play music through its speaker?

You can! You can ask Alexa to play music, podcasts, audiobooks, and more on your ecobee Switch+. When you linked your Amazon.com account to your Switch+, you automatically have access to any music available in your Amazon Music Library and any audiobooks available in your Audible Library. Amazon Prime members can also listen to music playlists and radio stations. ecobee Switch+ currently supports Amazon Music, TuneIn, and iHeartRadio.

Will this be available in other colors besides the current white, such as light almond?

Have only seen white.

So, my entire house is google and I really prefer to keep it that way for simplification-if I got this one Alexa device… how could I make that work?

It still works with google home. It just has a built-in mic/speaker for Alexa. You don’t have to use it. I use it with HomeKit, personally.

The description focuses on Alexa general commands. No mention of connectivity to ecobee thermostats. Does this act as replacement of room sensor?

At this time, it does not act as a room sensor. I don’t see how it could. The device itself generates heat of its own. It does work well with giving the commands to control the thermostat.

Can the night light be turned off?

You do have the option to turn the night light on or off using the app.

Will this work on a three-pole set up for lights

No, it will not work on a three-pole set up.

Can this be paired to a blue tooth speaker?

I was able to set a function for mutli-room music, but have not been successful in actually making it play. I do not believe they have that capability at least not yet.

I read that it can’t do calling or messaging; does it support the “Alexa, drop in on…” feature?

An earlier review stated that the drop-in feature was not available either.
