Assembly & Installation Instructions
Tools Needed
- Phillips screwdriver
- Thermal paste (if not pre-applied)
- Cleaning cloth or isopropyl alcohol (for CPU surface prep)
Step 1: Prepare the Motherboard
- Power off your PC and unplug all cables.
- Remove the existing CPU cooler if applicable.
- Clean the CPU surface using a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol to remove old thermal paste.
Step 2: Install the Backplate
- Place the provided motherboard backplate on the rear side of the motherboard.
- Align the holes of the backplate with the CPU socket mounting holes.
Step 3: Attach Standoffs
- Insert the standoffs through the motherboard aligned with the backplate.
- Tighten the standoffs gently; they will hold the cooler firmly in place.
Step 4: Apply Thermal Paste
- Apply a small pea-sized amount of thermal paste to the center of the CPU.
- If your AK400 cooler comes with pre-applied thermal paste, skip this step.
Step 5: Mount the Cooler
- Align the AK400 cooler base over the CPU, ensuring the mounting holes match the standoffs.
- Carefully place the cooler onto the CPU and press gently.
- Secure the cooler using the provided screws in a diagonal pattern to ensure even pressure.
Step 6: Attach the Fan
- Attach the fan to the heatsink using the included clips or screws.
- Ensure the airflow direction is correct (usually indicated by arrows on the fan).
Step 7: Connect the Fan & Display
- Plug the fan power cable into the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard.
- Connect the status display cable to the appropriate motherboard or power header as specified in the manual.
Step 8: Final Checks
- Double-check that all screws are tight and the cooler is secure.
- Ensure cables are connected and not obstructing the fan.
- Close the PC case and reconnect the power.
Step 9: Power On & Monitor
- Turn on your PC and check the status display for proper operation.
- Monitor CPU temperatures in BIOS or using software to ensure proper cooling performance.
