microSD Card Slot
Open the cover to insert a microSD card (not included) for local recording. Initialize the card in the Tapo app.
Reset
- Press and hold the Reset button for 5 seconds: Resets Wi-Fi settings.
- Press and hold the Reset button for 10 seconds: Resets to factory settings.

Set Up Your Camera
- Download Tapo App: Get the Tapo app from the App Store or Google Play, or by scanning the QR code.
- Log In: Open the app and log in with your TP-Link ID. Create an account if you don't have one.
- Add Your Camera: Tap the '+' button in the app, select your model, and follow the app instructions.
Set Up Using Amazon Frustration-Free Setup
What is Amazon Frustration-Free Setup?
Amazon Frustration-Free Setup (FFS) simplifies connecting Tapo devices without re-entering Wi-Fi passwords. Requirements include:
- Tapo device supports Amazon FFS.
- Device purchased from Amazon.
- An Amazon FFS-enabled Alexa device or router.
- Wi-Fi information saved to Amazon via Alexa echo.
- Tapo device and router on the same network as your Alexa echo.

If the LED does not turn solid green, try manual setup via the Tapo app.
How to use Amazon Frustration-Free Setup with Tapo devices
- Open the Amazon Alexa app, tap More, then select Skills & Games.
- Search for and select Tapo.
- Tap ENABLE TO USE.
- Log in with your TP-Link ID bound to your Tapo device and tap Authorize.
- Plug in your Tapo device; setup completes automatically within two minutes.
Done! If the device appears in the Tapo app's Home page, it's successfully associated with your Amazon account and joined your Wi-Fi network.
Install a microSD Card
To enable local recording, install a microSD card:
- Open the cover.
- Insert the microSD card into the slot, ensuring correct orientation, until it clicks.
You can check the card status or format it in the Tapo app under Camera Settings > microSD Card.
Mount Your Camera
The camera can be placed on a table or shelf, or mounted on a wall or ceiling using the provided template and screws. For detailed instructions, visit TP-Link support.
Option 1. Mount to the Ceiling
- Drill Holes: Use the mounting template to mark and drill two holes (6 mm / 15/64 in. diameter).
- Unscrew the Bracket: Detach the bracket from the camera base.
- Secure the Bracket: Insert anchors into the holes and use screws to fix the bracket.
- Install the Camera: Screw the camera base onto the bracket. Loosen the base to adjust the angle, then tighten to secure.
Option 2. Mount to the Wall
- Remove the Camera: Tilt and lift the camera at an angle to remove it from its base. Avoid pulling it straight.
- Install Over the Back Mounting Hole: Ensure the bracket is secured to the base. Push the shaft into the back mounting hole until it clicks.
- Unscrew the Bracket: Detach the bracket from the camera base.
- Drill Holes: Use the mounting template to mark and drill two holes (6 mm / 15/64 in. diameter).
- Secure the Bracket: Insert anchors into the holes and use screws to fix the bracket.
- Install the Camera: Screw the camera base onto the bracket. Loosen the base to adjust the angle, then tighten to secure.
How to Reset Your Camera
You can reset your camera using the Reset button or through the Tapo app:
- Via Reset Button: Open the cover and press and hold the RESET button.
- Press and hold for 5s (LED blinks red slowly): Resets Wi-Fi settings only.
- Press and hold for 10s (LED blinks red quickly): Resets to factory settings.
- Via Tapo App: Go to Camera Settings > Remove Device to factory reset.
