Introduction

microSD card purchased separately. Actual storage capacity depends on the microSD card size.

Tapo Care cloud storage services require a subscription. A free trial is provided.

Appearance

The camera features the following components:

microSD Card Slot

Open the cover to insert a microSD card (not included) for local recording. Initialize the card in the Tapo app.

Solid red Starting up

Set Up Your Camera

  1. Download Tapo App: Get the Tapo app from the App Store or Google Play, or by scanning the QR code.
  2. Log In: Open the app and log in with your TP-Link ID. Create an account if you don't have one.
  3. Add Your Camera: Tap the '+' button in the app, select your model, and follow the app instructions.

Set Up Using Amazon Frustration-Free Setup

What is Amazon Frustration-Free Setup?

Amazon Frustration-Free Setup (FFS) simplifies connecting Tapo devices without re-entering Wi-Fi passwords. Requirements include:

LED Indications during Amazon Frustration-Free Setup

Blinking red and green Ready for setup
Blinking amber FFS setup in progress
Solid green Working properly

If the LED does not turn solid green, try manual setup via the Tapo app.

How to use Amazon Frustration-Free Setup with Tapo devices

  1. Open the Amazon Alexa app, tap More, then select Skills & Games.
  2. Search for and select Tapo.
  3. Tap ENABLE TO USE.
  4. Log in with your TP-Link ID bound to your Tapo device and tap Authorize.
  5. Plug in your Tapo device; setup completes automatically within two minutes.

Done! If the device appears in the Tapo app's Home page, it's successfully associated with your Amazon account and joined your Wi-Fi network.

Install a microSD Card

To enable local recording, install a microSD card:

  1. Open the cover.
  2. Insert the microSD card into the slot, ensuring correct orientation, until it clicks.

You can check the card status or format it in the Tapo app under Camera Settings > microSD Card.

Mount Your Camera

The camera can be placed on a table or shelf, or mounted on a wall or ceiling using the provided template and screws. For detailed instructions, visit TP-Link support.

Option 1. Mount to the Ceiling

  1. Drill Holes: Use the mounting template to mark and drill two holes (6 mm / 15/64 in. diameter).
  2. Unscrew the Bracket: Detach the bracket from the camera base.
  3. Secure the Bracket: Insert anchors into the holes and use screws to fix the bracket.
  4. Install the Camera: Screw the camera base onto the bracket. Loosen the base to adjust the angle, then tighten to secure.

Option 2. Mount to the Wall

  1. Remove the Camera: Tilt and lift the camera at an angle to remove it from its base. Avoid pulling it straight.
  2. Install Over the Back Mounting Hole: Ensure the bracket is secured to the base. Push the shaft into the back mounting hole until it clicks.
  3. Unscrew the Bracket: Detach the bracket from the camera base.
  4. Drill Holes: Use the mounting template to mark and drill two holes (6 mm / 15/64 in. diameter).
