ANPR Camera Setup

About the ANPR Camera

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) are special cameras that can recognise and record a vehicle’s number plate details and can also record the Speed Data
These cameras can be factory fitted or retrofitted to most trailer based Data Signs products.

Setting up Internet access.

• The camera connects to the internet via a 4G modem and will need a Telstra Data SIM.
• To access the modem, open the box at the back of the sign head OR inside the sign head.
• Unscrew the SIM panel and insert the SIM in slot 1.

Connect the Camera to a Laptop

• The camera is mostly pre-configured by Data Signs but will require some minor config changes based on the road layout and scenario.
• To configure the ANPR camera, locate the LAN under the sign head.
• Connect a LAN cable to the LAN port and the network port of the laptop.

Configuring the ANPR settings

These changes can only be done locally. Connect the camera to a Windows PC as shows above.
Open an internet browser and in the address bar enter https://192.168.0.190
Enter your login details on the Login page and click on the Click on the Config > Traffic > LPR section

Follow these steps to run a basic config change on an ANPR Camera (refer to the image above):

• Enable the LPR if disabled (pt. 1)
• Adjust an existing Region (pt. 3) and then Saved (pt. 8) Done…
  OR
• Click on the Delete button to remove the Region (pt. 2)
• Draw a new detection Region as required (pt. 3)
• Click on the Add button to confirm the new Region (pt. 4)
• Click on the Save button (pt. 8) Done…

Advanced changes:

• Adjust the Repeat Checktime to increase or decrease the read frequency (pt. 5)
• Click on the “Edit” button to adjust the format of the licence plate. (pt. 6) (fig. 2)
• The Schedule is set to 24/7, but you can adjust as required. (pt. 7) (fig. 3)

The licence plate format is already configured to registrations which are between 4 and 7 digits and all numbers and letters. This can be reconfigured to any special format as required. Click on the Clear All button and setup a new schedule as required.

Configuring the Radar settings

Depending on the configuration of the road; the ANPR Radar Setting may need some adjustment.
These settings will help the radar pick up the vehicle speed accurately.

Adjust camera alignment

To physically adjust the alignment of the camera; please loosen the bolt as shown and adjust the camera using the connected computer to view the point of reference.
There may be a need to redraw the detection zone after adjustment. Follow the ANPR setting steps above.

Monitoring the ANPR Camera remotely

Using a mobile device

• Install the M-Sight Pro app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
• Open the app and go to the Device Manager
• Drop the menu list and tap “Scan QR Code” and scan the relevant camera QR code
• OR tap “Add Camera” and enter the Mac address manually.
• Enter a camera Name and Password and tap the Save button to confirm

Using a Windows PC

• Download and install the Milesight CMS software
• https://www.milesight.com/security/product/ms-cms
• Open the app and click on the [+] button on the top and select “Devices”
• Click the “Add Manually” button and enter the camera Name, Mac Address and Password
• Click the OK button and once added close the “Devices” tab
• From the “Live View” tab right click on the camera and select “Play”
